A Merseyside pensioner who has just a small electric heater to warm her dilapidated home and only has the means to make toast ‘may not survive winter’, her neighbour has warned.
Shocking photographs show the squalid conditions Irene is living in at her property in Huyton, near Liverpool.
She uses a tiny electric heater for the entire house after her gas supply was cut off, leaving her without any central heating or hot water.
It also means she has no other cooking facilities except her toaster.
Other harrowing pictures show the home’s damaged back door – which doesn’t close properly – and a large hole in one of her walls.
Irene is vulnerable and relies on oxygen canisters, making the conditions she is living in extremely dangerous.
Her story was shared online by James Anderson, who runs the Depher Community Interest Company – a plumbing and heating plumbers mait quick leak repair putty [source website] firm that works to help people who are living in squalid conditions and cannot afford to maintain properties.
