Lanigan going for maiden Group One glory with Main Sequence at Longchamp
Trainer David Lanigan will chase the first Group One win of his career when he runs Derby runner-up Main Sequence in Saturday’s uddmonte Grand Prix de Paris at Longchamp.
The Niarchos-owned colt, who chased home the brilliant Camelot at Epsom, will be opposed by another Aidan O’Brien-trained colt in Imperial Monarch.
Lanigan said: ‘Imperial Monarch looked very unlucky in his last race in France (Prix du Jockey Club) with the traffic problems he had so I don’t think we’ve seen the real Imperial Monarch yet.

‘Touch wood, we get there in one piece, everything goes well and we give it the best shot we can.
‘I’d like good or better ground.
I wouldn’t want extremes and I think they are pretty hopeful we’re going to have decent ground.’
There are still 14 possibles entered for the mile and bagusdomino a half Longchamp contest which, since the Prix Du Jockey Club was reduced in distance, is regarded as the ‘real’ French Derby by some purists.
They include three other British horses – John Gosden-trained Shantaram and bagusdomino Henry Cecil’s All That Rules and King Of Dudes.
O’Brien has also left in Daddy Long Legs, while master French trainer Andre Fabre has a party of four.
They are Prix du Jockey Club runner-up Saint Baudolino, Last Train, Masterstroke and Albion.
Kesampour, who is quoted in some St :Leger ante-post lists, Daredevil, Hard Dream and Sir Jade make up the list.
