विद्यार्थी जीवन की मर्यादा

मर्यादाहीन जीवन न व्यक्ति के लिए वांछनीय है न समुदाय के लिए। सृष्टि की प्रत्येक वस्तु में हमको एक नियमितता और मर्यादा की भावना दृष्टिगोचर होती है। समुद्र की एक मर्यादा है। उसने अपनी एक सीमा बांध ली है। सामान्यतः वह उससे आगे नहीं बढ़ता, नदियों की जल-राशि को वह अपने गर्भ में समा लेता है और उफनता नहीं। यदि कभी समुद्र अपनी मर्यादा को छोड़ देता है, तो फिर प्रलय ही मच जाती है। पृथ्वी का ही उदाहरण ले लीजिए। उसकी एक मर्यादा है कि वह स्थिर रहती है। जब वह अपनी मर्यादा को भूल जाती है, तो भूकम्प होता है और सारी व्यवस्था अस्त-व्यस्त हो जाती है। व्यक्ति जब अपनी मर्यादा को भंग करने लगता है, तो समाज के लिए खतरा बन जाता है। समाज में परिस्थितियों और अवस्थाओं के भेद के कारण अनेक वर्ग बन गये हैं। व्यक्तियों की भांति इन वर्गों को भी अपनी मर्यादा का पालन करना चाहिए, अन्यथा समाज में अराजकता फैल जायेगी। समाज में शान्ति और व्यवस्था कायम रखने के लिए मर्यादा-पालन की आवश्यकता से इन्कार नहीं किया जा सकता।

विद्यार्थी जीवन की भी एक मर्यादा है। विद्यार्थी का काम ज्ञान और अनुभव करना होना चाहिए। विद्यार्थी-जीवन में जो ज्ञान और अनुभव प्राप्त किया जाता है, वही मनुष्य को आगे चल कर काम देता है। विद्यार्थी को एक नागरिक की हैसियत से जिन जिम्मेदारियों को उठाना होगा, उसके लिए उसे तैयार होना है। उसे अपने को ऐसी किसी प्रवृत्ति में नहीं उलझने देना चाहिए, जिससे उसके मुख्य लक्ष्य में बाधा पड़े। समाज और राज्य का यह कर्तव्य है कि वे अपने विद्यार्थियों की समुचित शिक्षा-दीक्षा की व्यवस्था करें। विद्यार्थियों पर ही राष्ट्र की भावी महानता निर्भर करती है। विद्यार्थियों में से ही योग्य शासक, चिकित्सक, वैज्ञानिक, शिल्पी और साहित्यकार निकलेंगे। अतः समाज और राष्ट्र को विद्यार्थियों के लिए जीवन के हर क्षेत्र में काम आने लायक योग्यता हासिल करने के लिए सर्वोत्तम साधन और प्रत्येक सुविधा सुलभ करानी चाहिए। विद्यार्थियों में अपनें शिक्षकों के प्रति आदर-भाव होना चाहिए। उनमें नया सीखने की तीव्र लगन होनी चाहिए। उनमें अनुशासन होना चाहिए। उनमें चरित्र की दृढ़ता होनी चाहिए। इन गुणों का यदि विद्यार्थी अपने भीतर विकास करेंगे, तो सफल जीवन के अधिकारी होंगे, इसमें कोई सन्देह नहीं।

A life without dignity is desirable neither for individuals nor for communities. We see a sense of regularity and dignity in everything in the universe. The ocean has a dignity. It has established its limits. Generally, it does not overflow, absorbing the waters of rivers into its womb and not overflowing. If the ocean ever crosses its limits, a catastrophe ensues. Take the example of the Earth. Its dignity is that it remains stable. When it forgets its limits, an earthquake occurs, disrupting the entire system. When individuals begin to transgress their limits, they become a threat to society. Due to differences in circumstances and situations, various classes have emerged in society. Like individuals, these classes must also adhere to their limits, otherwise anarchy will spread in society. The need to maintain dignity to maintain peace and order in society cannot be denied.

Student life also has its limits. A student’s job should be to acquire knowledge and experience. The knowledge and experience gained during student life serve a person well in the future. A student must prepare for the responsibilities they will face as a citizen. They should not allow themselves to be entangled in any pursuit that hinders their primary goal. It is the duty of society and the state to ensure proper education for their students. The future greatness of a nation depends on students. From among them will emerge capable rulers, doctors, scientists, craftsmen, and writers. Therefore, society and the nation must provide the best resources and every facility available to students to acquire skills useful in every field of life. Students should have respect for their teachers. They should have a strong desire to learn new things. They should be disciplined. They should have strength of character. If students cultivate these qualities within themselves, they will undoubtedly be destined for a successful life.
