मर्यादा

मनसा-वाचा-कर्मणा सभी सांसारिक व्यवहारों की सीमा रेखा मर्यादा कहलाती है। सृष्टि में कोई ऐसा तत्व नहीं, जिसके लिए मर्यादा आवश्यक न हो। सूर्य, चंद्र, ग्रह-नक्षत्र सभी मर्यादा में रहकर ही ब्रह्मांड के संचालक हैं। पंचतत्व मर्यादा में ही जीवन प्रदाता हैं, अन्यथा महाविनाश लेकर आते हैं। आग तभी तक भूख शांत करती है जब तक चूल्हे की मर्यादा में है। मर्यादा का तटबंध लांघते ही जीवनदायिनी नदियां भी काल बन जाती हैं। वर्षाचक्र के साथ जीवनचक्र का प्रवर्तक सागर भी सुनामी बन जाता है। अतः मर्यादा उल्लंघन का परिणाम सदा घातक होता है।

मर्यादाएं वह लक्ष्मण रेखा हैं, जो किसी सीता को मर्यादा की दहलीज पार करने से पूर्व अकल्पनीय परिणाम के लिए चिंतन करने को विवश करती हैं। पारस्परिक संबंधों के समवाय होने से परिवार और समाज मर्यादा की अपेक्षा रखते हैं। संबंधों की उम्र का निर्धारण इसी से होता है, क्योंकि मर्यादाएं परस्पर विश्वास में वृद्धि कर संबंधों को चिरंजीवी बनाती हैं, पर जब ये टूटती हैं तो न परिवार बचता है, न समाज। राष्ट्रीय एकता भी विखंडित होती है।

मर्यादाएं जीवन का अलंकरण हैं। यद्यपि इनका दिग्दर्शन बाह्य रूपेण नहीं होता, किंतु ये अंतर्मन को अलंकृत कर आचरण को पवित्र करती हैं।

जैसे आचरण के बिना ज्ञानोपदेश अधूरा है, वैसे ही मर्यादा के बिना आचरण। इसलिए मर्यादा का स्थान सबसे ऊपर है। सुख-शांति का आधार होने से मर्यादापूरित आचरण ही सदाचार है और सबसे बड़ा धर्म भी। बदले युगीन परिदृश्य में सर्वाधिक क्षति मानवीय संबंधों की हुई है, जिसकी परिणति पारिवारिक एवं सामाजिक विघटन के रूप में देखी जा रही है। इसका प्रमुख कारण मर्यादाओं का क्षरण है। मर्यादा पालन ही इसका समाधान है। इसके लिए युवाओं को आगे आना चाहिए। आइए, मर्यादित आचरण से मानवीय संबंधों को गरिमा प्रदान करें।

The boundary line of all worldly behaviour in thought, word and deed is called Maryada. There is no such element in the universe for which Maryada is not necessary. Sun, moon, planets and stars all operate the universe only by staying within limits. Panchtatva provide life only when it is within limits, otherwise they bring about great destruction. Fire satisfies hunger only as long as it is within the limits of the stove. As soon as the embankment of Maryada is crossed, even life-giving rivers become death. The ocean, which starts the cycle of life along with the rain cycle, also becomes a tsunami. Hence, the result of violating Maryada is always fatal.

Maryada is that Laxman Rekha, which forces a Sita to think about the unimaginable consequences before crossing the threshold of Maryada. Being a part of mutual relations, family and society expect Maryada. This determines the age of relations, because decorum increases mutual trust and makes relations immortal, but when these break, neither the family nor the society survives. National unity also disintegrates.

Dignities are the ornamentation of life. Although they are not externally visible, they adorn the inner self and purify conduct.

Just as knowledge is incomplete without conduct, conduct is incomplete without decorum. Therefore decorum has the highest place. Being the basis of happiness and peace, decorum-filled conduct is good conduct and the greatest religion. In the changed scenario of the times, human relations have suffered the most, the result of which is being seen in the form of family and social disintegration. The main reason for this is the erosion of decorum. Following decorum is its solution. For this, the youth should come forward. Come, let us give dignity to human relations with decorum-filled conduct.
