The ministers of the state cabinet are likely to start visiting other states soon with a mission to collect iron pieces from farm equipment for the Statue of Unity, which is being constructed at Sadhubet near Sardar Sarobar Dam.
The statue of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel as envisioned by Modi is being touted as the largest in the world and about twice as high as the Statue of Liberty.
With Modi laying claims to the legacy of Sardar Patel, his call to the farmers of the country to donate iron pieces would serve as an effective move to reach out to the agriculturist community, which traditionally has not been the strongest votary of the saffron polity.
