Record
London, Agency. A plane made in Britain has broken the world record of the longest flight. This plane kept flying for 67 days i.e. about 1600 hours. This plane named ‘Alto Zephyr’ without a pilot flew continuously from Kenya to Australia. After this it was dropped in the Indian Ocean. Solar energy was used in this plane.
This flight has broken the record made by American pilots. In 1959, Robert Timm and John Cook flew a Cessna Skyhawk plane continuously for 64 days and 22 hours in Nevada.
‘Alto Zephyr’ charges the panels on its wings with solar energy during the day. At night
Alto Zephyr has been specially designed
The width of the wings of Alto Zephyr is 85 feet and its weight is only 75 kg. This aircraft is designed to fly above 60 thousand feet, making it suitable for providing communication in remote areas. The previous longest flight of this aircraft was 64 days.
The batteries of the aircraft slowly drain during the flight and then it flies down and gets charged by sunlight the next day. It can also be used as a spy plane, equipped with powerful cameras and sensors to monitor the earth. This can bring a revolution in the field of solar powered aircraft.
