अपने उत्थान का पर्व
भीष्म पितामह ने बाणों की शय्या पर लेटे-लेटे उत्तरायण के इसी दिन की प्रतीक्षा की थी, क्योंकि उत्तरायण को श्रेष्ठ माना गया है। इसे देवत्व प्राप्ति कराने वाला सात्विक काल माना गया है। इच्छा मृत्यु का वरदान प्राप्त भीष्म चाहते थे कि उनकी अंतिम श्वास तभी निकले, जब सूर्य उत्तरायण हो, इसलिए हम इस दिन को तपस्या का चिह्न मानते हैं। रोज सुबह चाहे उठो या न उठो, पर ऐसे विशेष पर्व पर ब्रह्ममुहूर्त में अवश्य जागना चाहिए।
मकर संक्रांति का जो आध्यात्मिक पक्ष है, उसे अब हम समाज और शरीर से जोड़कर देखते हैं। अगर आप इस दिन सूर्य की साधना करेंगे, दान करेंगे, तो ऐसा माना जाता है कि आप अपने तन के साथ-साथ आध्यात्मिक उपलब्धि और सामाजिक क्षेत्र को बलवान करने का उपाय करते हैं। मकर शनि की राशि है। अगर हम इसे अध्यात्म की दृष्टि से देखें, तो शनि नाम है तपस्या का, त्याग का, खोज का, संन्यास का और वीतराग का। जिनको इनकी समझ नहीं है, उनको शनि खराब लगते हैं, लेकिन धर्म और अध्यात्म की दृष्टि से शनि बहुत उत्तम हैं। तुम्हारे द्वारा किए गए कर्म के कारण शनि तुम्हें दंड देते हैं और तुम्हारे द्वारा किए गए पुण्य-कर्म शनि देवता की शक्ति बनकर तुम्हें सुदृढ़ कर देते हैं। पौराणिक उदाहरणों के मुताबिक, शनि देव भगवान शिव और श्रीकृष्ण के भक्त हैं। इसका मतलब शिव और श्रीकृष्ण दोनों के ही भक्त शनि से सुरक्षित हो जाते हैं।
सूर्य जब मकर राशि में प्रवेश करता है, तो उस प्रवेश से वातावरण में जो तरंगें उत्पन्न होती हैं, वे सृष्टि में जहां-जहां भी जल है, उस जलराशि में अपना काम करती हैं। मनुष्य के शरीर में 70 प्रतिशत जल है। शरीर जब तक सजीव है, तब तक उसमें 70 प्रतिशत जल रहता है। इसलिए, देव नदियों में तुम्हें स्नान करना चाहिए। अगर तुम कहते हो कि सूर्य का हमसे कोई लेना-देना नहीं है, तो तुम भूल में हो। विश्व की तमाम पुरानी रोम, मेक्सिको और भारत से जुड़े हुए पड़ोसी देशों में भी संस्कृतियों में सूर्य को उपासना का केंद्र बनाया गया है। सूर्य की पूजा होती है। वहां सूर्य की मूर्तियां चिह्न रूप में ने सूर्य को खोज का विषय बनाया। सूर्य की हर गति का पूजी जाती हैं। अंतर बस इतना है कि भारत के मनीषियों प्रभाव सीधे तौर पर धरती के सभी जीवों पर पड़ता है।
पुराण और ज्योतिष की दृष्टि से मकर संक्रांति का बहुत महत्व है। संक्रांति मतलब क्रांति, यानी बदलाव। आप अपने मन को संक्रांत करिए, मतलब स्वयं को बदलिए। शरीर रोगी है, तो उसे रोग से मुक्त करने का संकल्प करें। अपने उत्थान के लिए अपने आपको श्रेष्ठ बनाने के लिए प्रयत्न करना आवश्यक है। इसके लिए नहीं सकता। मकर संक्रांति से उत्तम अवसर और कोई दूसरा हो ही नहीं सकता।

According to mythological examples, Lord Saturn is a devotee of Lord Shiva and Lord Krishna. This means that devotees of both Shiva and Krishna are protected by Saturn.
When the sun enters Capricorn, the waves generated in the atmosphere by this entry affect the water bodies wherever they exist in creation. The human body is 70 percent water. If your body is ailing, resolve to free it from illness. It is essential to strive for self-improvement and to make yourself better. There is no better opportunity for this than Makar Sankranti.
