Washington, Agency. When a person undergoes surgery, he feels pain for a long time. However, it was difficult to find out why he had this pain for a long time.
Now with the help of AI, it will be told whether this pain will last for a long time or not. Scientists at Washington University have tried to find out using AI which patients are most at risk of long-term pain.
Every year 300 million people in the world undergo surgery
35% of them have pain even after the wound heals
About 300 million people in the world undergo surgery every year. Of these, 10% to 35% people have pain for a long time even after the wound heals. But till now it was not clear why this long pain occurs, because there were many different reasons behind it. Information is taken from the patient before surgery through AI.
How is their health, habits, mental state etc. Then it is put into the computer and with the help of AI it is determined whether a person is at risk of having long term pain after surgery or not. Patient X has a 30% risk of having pain, but AI says that there is a 50% doubt in this estimate. That means the doctor will have to do further investigation.
