NEW DELHI: The news is finally here. Staff Selection Commission (SSC) will be releasing SSC Combined Graduate Level (SSC CGL) Exam notification on Saturday, April 21, for the year 2018 for several posts.
We are expecting the number of vacancies will be around 4,000. Like every year, the students will be tested in 4 phases (Tier-1, Tier-2, Tier-3 and Tier-4) to secure a coveted job in the Staff selection Committee.

SSC CGL 2018 Calendar:

As per our information, the registration process will start from April 21. The candidates will have to register online in order to appear for the examination. The last date for the registration is May 25, 2018.

The SSC CGL Tier-1 examination will be conducted between July 25, 2018, and August 20, 2018. The SSC CGL Tier-2 examinations will be from November 27, 2018, till November 30, 2018. However, there hasn’t been any update on the schedule of the Tier-3 examination dates.

SSC CGL Eligibility Criteria:

The basic qualification to appear for the SSC CGL examination is to have a bachelor’s degree from a university which is recognized by the government of India. Even the candidates who are in the final year of graduation can also appear for the examination. Further information on the eligibility criteria can be found from the official website.

Age Limit:

After the recent changes, the age limit has been increased to 30 years from 27 years. The minimum age to appear for the examination is 20 years.

This implies that the candidates should have born between August 2, 1987, and August 1, 1997. Previously the age limit for the same is 18-27 years.

Nationality:

All the candidates who wants to appear for the examination should have Indian Nationality.

Salary:

Different posts will have different pay based on the grade pay and the cities. There are 5 different grade pays and the complete information on the salary can be checked from the official website.

Selection Procedure:

As mentioned above, the examination will be conducted in four tiers.

Tier-1 and Tier-2 will be online examinations with objective questions asked in multiple choice type. Tier-3 needs to written in a descriptive format and the students have the luxury of selecting English/Hindi as the language. Tier-4 will have a computer based proficiency test as well as the document verification.

The students who clear the Tier-1 examination get the chance to appear for the Tier-2 and Tier-3 examination. Tier-4 examination needs to be given only for some specific jobs which require typing skills.

NEW DELHI : Amazon.com Inc has big plans for India in its bucket in coming five years. With groceries and goods such as creams, soaps and cleaning products being the most demanded items on the online platform, the company is looking to up the game.

Amit Agarwal, the India head of Amazon, said in an interview that Amazon will change the face of online shopping in next five years.

“I would not speculate on when we would launch Amazon Fresh but, absolutely, if you ask me the next five years of vision – from your avocados to your potatoes, and your meat to your ice cream – we’ll deliver everything to you in two hours,” he said.

Amazon Fresh was launched in the United States about five years ago. It is the company’s flagship fresh grocery delivery service. Currently, Amazon delivers grocery in India with the name of pantry. It has also tied up with local vendors in four cities for Amazon Now, which promises two-hour deliveries.

“Probably in the next five years groceries and consumables would be more than half of our business,” he told Reuters.

With India booming towards digital platforms, the company is looking to cash-in the opportunity in next decade time.

“We want to get the next hundred million customers shopping with us,” said Agarwal, adding that Amazon plans to woo new clients with product exchange and staggered payment offerings.

In a bid to impove road safety and make tracking of vehicle that violate rules, a panel setup by the ministry of home affairs (MHA) has suggested that a central body be set up to maintain data on motor vehicles by linking their registration numbers to the Aadhaar numbers of their owners.

Representational Image The panel hasn’t directly recommended linking motor vehicles to Aadhaar, but suggested the creation of a Central Repository Body (CRB) at the central government level, said a Hindustan Times report. The move is being seen as an attempt to reinforce security against incidents such as Maoist and other militant attacks on highways, reducing crimes such as robberies and attacks on women as well as road accidents.

Delhi transport minister Kailash Gahlot remained apprehensive about the suggestion and asked if the existing laws permit it.

“The linking of Aadhaar with motor vehicles can help in many things like hit-and-run cases or tracing vehicles but at the same time we are not sure if the current laws will permit mandatory linking of Aadhaar to vehicles,” HT report quoted Gahlot as saying.

In February, the Centre had informed the Supreme Court that it is planning to link driving licences with Aadhaar number in order to weed out fake licenses. Union Road Transport Minister Nitin Gadkari, has in the past, shown a great deal of enthusiasm towards linking the DL and Aadhaar as a third of driving licences in India are bogus. Gadkari feels that Aadhaar linking would help that law enforcement agencies to curb the menace of fake licences.

Facebook confirms it snoops on your Messenger conversations

Controversy embroiled Facebook revealed this week that the company snoops on your Messenger conversations— including text chats, pictures, and links—to make sure that you comply with their rules.

CEO Mark Zuckerberg talking to Vox, gave an example of the Rohingya crisis in Myanmar and explained that the company’s systems “detect what’s going on” when people try to send sensational messages via Messenger, and Facebook “stops those message from going through.”

The company later talking to Bloomberg said that in order to prevent the misuse of the app, it processes the content of the messages the same way it scrutinises the content on social media arm. Messages that are flagged for violating Facebook’s community standards are read by moderators, who can then block or take them down if needed.

“For example, on Messenger, when you send a photo, our automated systems scan it using photo matching technology to detect known child exploitation imagery or when you send a link, we scan it for malware or viruses. Facebook designed these automated tools so we can rapidly stop abusive behaviour on our platform,” said a spokesperson.

The revelation may irk some of its users who otherwise thought their messages were not being read by someone else in the middle.

However, the company clarified in a blog post on Wednesday that it does not collect the content neither shares it with its advertisers.

“Call and text history is part of an opt-in feature for people using Messenger or Facebook Lite on Android. This means we can surface the people you most frequently connect with at the top of your contact list,” Mike Schroepfer, Chief Technology Officer of Facebook said.

“We’ve reviewed this feature to confirm that Facebook does not collect the content of messages — and will delete all logs older than one year. In the future, the client will only upload to our servers the information needed to offer this feature — not broader data such as the time of calls.”

Facebook revealed on Wednesday that about 87 million users could have been affected in the Cambridge Analytica data breach.

One of the momentous milestones in life is when you get your very own Driver’s License. The euphoria of freedom to drive around your own vehicle and go wherever you wish to is definitely a joy to thrive on. Though you might grow out of this or even take it for granted in time, the difficulties in procuring one is not easily forgotten. Having a license alone is not enough- there is also the matter of timely renewal of said driving licence. These renewals are devised to ensure that your eligibility to keep on driving isn’t hampered by advancing age or any other foreseen/unexpected conditions. Just because one was fit enough to acquire a license 20 years ago, need not mean he/ she is fit now. And yes, driving around with an expired license is as good as doing the same without one, and may be a potential problem for you, other drivers and pedestrians. Hence the licence needs to be renewed after a stipulated term.

Why should you renew your driving licence?

As per the Indian Motor Vehicles Act, 1988, it is mandatory for drivers of any vehicle to hold a valid driving licence to drive a vehicle on the road. A Driving licence is an official document issued by the government, which authorises an individual to drive a category of vehicle for which he holds a licence. This document is also acknowledged as a valid identity proof.It is a must to renew your DL after its expiry because as per the law nobody in India can drive any vehicle without a valid DL. As per Section 177 of the Motor Act, 1988, if a person is driving a vehicle without a valid DL (i.e an expired DL), is a punishable offence by law. Violators of the same are liable to be fined.

An expired driving licence is valid only for a month (i.e 30 days) post expiration and can needs to be renewed within that grace period. If your driving licence has expired more than 30 days ago, you can renew the same by paying a penalty. This holds true if only the application requesting a renewed DL is made within a time span of five years from the date of expiry. If the licence has been initially obtained from another state, then the applicant should furnish a No Objection Certificate (N.O.C.) and confirmation of driving licence issued by the original licensing authority.

Where do I file an application to renew my DL?

Duly filled application form with the set of required documents to renew your DL needs to be submitted to Assistant R.T.O. at the Driving Licence Branch in your state. Your DL will be renewed for 5 years if it is for a Non-Transport Vehicle, and for 3 years if it being renewed for a transport vehicles. One can get the renewed driving licence on the same evening, that is if the licence is procured in the same office. It needs a period of 20 days after the application has been submitted, if the case is any different from the one mentioned above. The latter takes longer as it involves a process of verification and correspondence.

Driving Licence Renewal Form:

As the name implies, a Driving Licence Renewal Form is utilised as the KYC document when the concerned vehicle owner is looking to update/renew his/her licence, and the Road Transport Office (RTO) needs to understand the specifics of the current licence. This simple document can be easily downloaded from the concerned RTO’s website, or can be picked up as a physical copy from the local RTO office.

Form 9- Form of Application for the Renewal of the Driving Licence is a simple document involving a small number of informational queries. Of course, a large part of this communication concerns the applicant’s current DL with space for appropriate authenticators and signatures. The completion of this form must be followed up with the attachment of the requisite documents (see next section) before the procedures of the renewal of driving licence can be put into action.

Documentation Required to Renew Driving Licence:

A list of valid documents are required to renew your driving licence. They have been listed below :

• Duly filled DL renewal application form. This can be downloaded you’re your state’s RTO/RTA portal.
• Applicant’s medical certificate is a must. The form for the same can be downloaded via your state’s RTO/RTA portal. Please note that this form has to be filled out by a licensed physician
• Valid permanent driving licence
• Proof of age. This can be substantiated by any of valid government issued document like PAN card, passport, voter ID card, etc.
• Address proof/proof of residence : passport, driving license, electricity bill, phone bill, lease agreement, etc.
• Passport size photographs of the applicant. Please note that the number of this differs from one state to another.
• If the permanent licence holder has changed his address from one place to another, the same must be registered within 1 month at the RTO/RTA at which the initial and original licence was issued, or at the nearest regional office.
• If the permanent DL holder has moved to another state, then the aforementioned rule applies here too. In addition to that, a licence holder from another state has to submit a NOC (no objection certificate) which needs to be issued by the RTO/RTA at which the original licence had been issued.

Fees

Please note, that as driving licence is a document which is issued by the RTO (regional transport office), the fees of it are likely to vary from state to state. Though the difference in the amount is not a lot, there is a difference on a smaller scale. Please refer to your respective state’s RTO office or portal to get a complete clarity on the fee charged in your state.
