उत्तरी कोरियाई सेना का नाकटोंग नदी पार करना और दक्षिणी व केंद्रीय क्षेत्रों में उसका विशाल युद्ध सामग्री के साथ जमाव इस बात के संकेत हैं कि साम्यवादी सेनाएं अब भी पूसान से ताएगू को युद्ध सामग्री व रसद भेजने का मार्ग काट देने का प्रयत्न कर रही हैं। जनरल मैक आर्थर के प्रधान शिविर से जारी की गयी एक विज्ञप्ति में कहा गया है कि उत्तरी कोरियाइयों ने आज समूचे मोर्चे पर छोटे-छोटे दस्तों में आक्रमण और घुसपैठ की कार्रवाई जारी रखी।

कल दो ब्रिटिश क्रूजरों ने दो ब्रिटिश विध्वंसकों की सहायता से दो घंटों तक लगातार इंचोन बन्दरगाह के सैनिक ठिकानों पर गोलाबारी की। ब्रिटिश विमानों का कहना है कि इस गोलाबारी का परिणाम अत्युत्तम रहा। यह गोले बैरकों, तेल की टंकियों, कारखानों, गोदामों, रेलवे स्टेशन, बिजली घर और तोपों के अड्डों पर लगे। विज्ञप्ति में कहा गया है कि साम्यवादी सेना ने चांगचोंग के 5 मील पूर्व में नाकटोंग नदी पार कर ली है। उत्तर की ओर से भी उनके अमरीकी रक्षा-पंक्ति में घुस आने की आशंका है। नाकटोंग नदी को पार करने वाली साम्यवादी सेना अनुमानतः एक बटालियन है और अमरीकी सेना उसे रोकने का प्रयत्न कर रही है। चिंजू इलाके में साम्यवादी संयुक्त राष्ट्रीय सेना की रक्षा पंक्ति में घुसने की चेष्टा कर रहे हैं, किन्तु उन्हें पीछे धकेल दिया गया है। इस क्षेत्र में युद्ध पंक्ति अब भी चिंजू के 11 मील पूर्व से 17 मील दक्षिण-पूर्व तक फैली हुई है। आंडोंग के दक्षिण में साम्यवादियों का दबाव आज बहुत बढ़ गया है। कोरिया की 125 मील लम्बी युद्ध पंक्ति के अधिकतर भाग पर आज़ तनावपूर्ण निस्तब्धता रही, जो इस बात का संकेत है कि दोनों पक्ष एक जबर्दस्त संघर्ष और ताकत आजमाई के लिए तय्यारियां कर रहे हैं। दक्षिणी मोर्चे पर आज अमरीकी सेना को अपने कल के ठिकानों से पीछे हट जाना पड़ा। एक अमरीकी खुफिया अफसर ने बताया है कि उत्तरी कोरिया वाले दक्षिणी तट के प्रदेश में जबर्दस्त तोपखाना भेज रहे हैं, जो इस बात का संकेत है कि वे मसान पर कब्जा करने को तय्यारियां कर रहे हैं। यह निश्चित नहीं समझा जा रहा कि साम्यवादियों का मुख्य युद्ध प्रयत्न दक्षिण में होगा, जहां कि उनके विशाल सैनिक जमाव से पूसान को और वहां से ताएगू जाने वाले मार्ग को भारी खतरा है।

The crossing of the Naktong River by the North Korean army and its concentration of huge war materials in the southern and central regions are indications that the Communist forces are still trying to cut off the route of sending war materials and supplies from Pusan to Taegu. A press release issued from General MacArthur’s headquarters camp said that the North Koreans continued to attack and infiltrate in small groups along the entire front today.

Yesterday, two British cruisers, with the help of two British destroyers, continuously shelled the military bases of Inchon port for two hours. British aircraft say that the result of this shelling was excellent. These shells hit barracks, oil tanks, factories, warehouses, railway station, power house and artillery positions. The press release said that the Communist army has crossed the Naktong River 5 miles east of Changchong. There is a possibility of them entering the American defense line from the north as well. The Communist force crossing the Naktong River is estimated to be one battalion and the American forces are trying to stop it. In the Chinju area the Communists are trying to penetrate the United National Army’s defense line but have been pushed back. The battle line in this area still stretches from 11 miles east to 17 miles southeast of Chinju. The Communist pressure south of Andong has increased considerably today. A tense silence prevailed today along much of Korea’s 125-mile battle line, indicating that both sides are preparing for a fierce battle and a test of strength. On the southern front today the American forces had to retreat from their positions yesterday. An American intelligence officer has reported that the North Koreans are sending a heavy artillery barrage to the southern coastal region, indicating that they are preparing to capture Masan. It is not certain that the Communists’ main war effort will be in the south, where their massive troop concentration poses a serious threat to Pusan and the route from there to Taegu.
