ईश्वर से जुड़ना कल्याणकारी

कामना करें, तो भगवान की करें। क्रोध करें, तो भगवान से करें। अगर भगवान हमारे पर क्रोध भी करेंगे, तो वह हमारे लिए वर के तुल्य होगा। नारद भक्ति सूत्र में आया है-‘हमारे लिए कुछ भी करने का विषय परमात्मा बन जाए। कामना करें, चाहे क्रोध करें, चाहे लोभ करें, कुछ भी करें, तो भगवान में ही करें।’
किसी प्रकार से भगवान में मन लगा दें, तो हमारा कल्याण ही है। जैसे बिना इच्छा के भी अग्नि के साथ संबंध करेंगे, स्पर्श करेंगे, भूल से पैर लग जाए, हमें पता ही नहीं कि यहां अंगार है, तो भी वह जलाएगी ही। ऐसे ही भगवान का नाम है। भगवान के साथ किसी भी तरह से संबंध किया जाए-वैर से, प्रेम से, भय से, द्वेष से, तो भी वह संपूर्ण पापों का नाश करने वाला है। यह बात भगवान के नाम के विषय में बताई गई है। स्वरूप के विषय में तो कहना ही क्या है?
भगवान के साथ संबंध करने से भगवान के साथ संबंध जुड़ जाता है। जैसे संसार के साथ संबंध जुड़ने से हमारा जन्म-मरण होता है। हमारे जन्म-मरण का कारण क्या होता है? गुणों का संग। ऐसे ही निर्गुण से संग हो जाएगा, तो वह जन्म मरण में कारण कैसे होगा? यही तो परीक्षित ने प्रश्न किया है, ‘रास पंचाध्यायी’ में कि ‘भगवन! गोपियां तो भगवान कृष्ण को सुंदर पुरुष के रूप में ही जानती थी, ब्रह्मरूप से नहीं, तो गुणों में दृष्टि रखने वाली गोपियों का गुणों का संग कैसे दूर हुआ? उसका शुकदेव मुनि ने उत्तर क्या दिया? वहां कहा है, ‘भगवान से द्वेष करने वाला वैद्य भी परमात्मा को प्राप्त हो गया, तो जो भगवान की प्यारी हैं, उनका कल्याण हो जाए, उसमें क्या कहना !’
किसी तरह से भगवान के साथ संबंध हो जाए, किसी रीति से हो जाए। वैर से, प्रेम से, भक्ति से, द्वेष से, भय से। नारद जी ने कहा है, ‘किसी तरह से भगवान के साथ संबंध हो जाए, तो वह कल्याण करेगा ही। इस बात को भगवान जानते हैं और भगवान के प्यारे भक्त भी जानते हैं। तीसरा आदमी इस तत्व को नहीं जानता।
लोग शंका करते हैं कि भगवान को अवतार लेने की क्या जरूरत है? क्या वे साधुओं की रक्षा, दुष्टों का विनाश और धर्म की स्थापना संकल्प मात्र से नहीं कर सकते? कर नहीं सकते, यह बात नहीं। वे तो करते ही रहते हैं, फिर अवतार लेने का क्या कारण है?
दुष्टों का विनाश, भक्तों की रक्षा और धर्म की अच्छी तरह से स्थापना करने के लिए भगवान अवतार लेते हैं। इसका अर्थ यह नहीं कि दुष्टों को मार देना और भक्तों को न मरने देना। रक्षा का अर्थ है-‘उनके भावों की रक्षा।’ भक्त की दृष्टि में शरीर का कोई मूल्य नहीं है। वहां मूल्य है- ‘भगवद्भक्ति’ का।
भगवान की तरफ चलने वाले मनसुख आदि ने हंसते-हंसते फांसी स्वीकार कर ली। शरीर का वहां कोई मान नहीं है। यह नष्ट होने वाला है। भगवान अवतार लेकर लीला करते हैं। उस लीला को गा-गाकर भक्त मस्त होते रहते हैं। यह बिना अवतार के नहीं हो सकता। भगवान की चर्चा चलती है। कथा चलती है। लीला चलती है। यह सब अवतार होने से ही हो सकता है। लोग गा-गाकर संसार से तरते जाते हैं और तरते ही रहते हैं। भगवान इस तत्व को जानते हैं। इस वास्ते अवतार लेकर लीला करते हैं और संत-महात्मा भी इस वास्ते भगवत चर्चा करते हैं।
जो भगवान की कथामृत को कहते हैं, सुनते हैं, विचार करते हैं, वे बहुत देने वाले हैं, तो लेने वाले भी हैं। मानो सुनने वालों को देते हैं और सुन कर लेते हैं। सुनने वालों को लाभ होता है, तो कहने वालों को नहीं होता है क्या? होता ही है। इस वास्ते भगवान अवतार लेकर लीला करते हैं।

If you harbor a desire, let it be for God. If you feel anger, direct it toward God. Even if God were to become angry with us, that very anger would be akin to a boon for us. As stated in the Narada Bhakti Sutra: “Let the Supreme Soul become the sole object of all our actions. Whether we desire, feel anger, harbor greed—whatever we do—let it be directed solely toward God.”
If we can fix our mind upon God in any manner whatsoever, our salvation is assured. Just as fire—even if approached without intent—will inevitably burn us if we touch it or accidentally step on it (unaware that glowing embers lie there)—so too is the nature of God’s name. Whether one establishes a connection with God through enmity, love, fear, or malice—in any way at all—that connection serves to annihilate all sins. This truth is affirmed regarding the holy name of God; as for His true divine form (Swarup), what need is there to even speak of its power?
Establishing a connection with God results in a true bond with the Divine. Just as our attachment to the material world leads to the cycle of birth and death—the root cause of which is our entanglement with the Gunas (the three modes of material nature)—so too, if one establishes a connection with the Nirguna (the attributeless, transcendent Reality), how could that connection possibly perpetuate the cycle of birth and death? This is precisely the question King Parikshit posed in the Rasa Panchadhyayi: “O Lord! The Gopis perceived Lord Krishna merely as a handsome human being, not as the Supreme Brahman. How, then, did the Gopis—whose consciousness was still focused on the material Gunas—manage to transcend their entanglement with those very Gunas?” What was the reply given by Sage Shukadeva? He stated: “If even Shishupala—who harbored intense hatred toward God—attained the Supreme Soul, then what need is there to even speak of the salvation of those who are beloved to God?”
One should strive to establish a connection with God in any way possible—through any means or method: be it through enmity, love, devotion, malice, or fear. Sage Narada has declared: “If one can establish a connection with God in any manner whatsoever, He will undoubtedly grant salvation.” God Himself knows this truth, as do His beloved devotees; however, the ordinary person remains unaware of this profound spiritual principle. People often wonder: what is the necessity for God to take an incarnation? Can He not accomplish the protection of the virtuous, the destruction of the wicked, and the establishment of righteousness merely through His divine will? It is not that He cannot do so—indeed, He is constantly performing these very acts. So, then, what is the underlying reason for taking an incarnation?
God takes an incarnation specifically to destroy the wicked, protect His devotees, and firmly establish righteousness. This, however, does not imply merely killing the wicked and preventing devotees from dying in the physical sense. The true meaning of “protection” here is the “protection of their spiritual sentiments and inner disposition.” In the eyes of a true devotee, the physical body holds no intrinsic value; the only thing of true worth is “devotion to God.”
Devotees such as Mansukh—whose minds were steadfastly directed toward God—accepted the gallows with a smile. For them, the physical body holds no significance, for it is inherently perishable. By taking an incarnation, God enacts His divine Lila (play). Devotees become immersed in divine ecstasy by singing the praises of this Lila. This experience would be impossible without the manifestation of an incarnation. It is through this that discourse regarding God ensues; divine narratives unfold; and the divine Lila continues. All of this becomes possible solely because of the incarnation. By singing these praises, people navigate across the ocean of worldly existence—crossing over it and continuing to transcend it. God is fully aware of this profound truth. For this very reason, He takes an incarnation to enact His Lila; and for this very reason, saints and great souls engage in discourse regarding the Divine.
Those who narrate, listen to, and contemplate the nectar-like stories of God are simultaneously givers and receivers. In a sense, they give to those who listen, and by listening themselves, they receive. If those who listen derive spiritual benefit, does it not follow that those who narrate also benefit? Indeed, they most certainly do. It is for this very reason that God takes an incarnation to enact His divine Lila.
