बारिश से कई फसलों को होगा फायदा

यह सही है कि इस बेमौसम बारिश ने किसानों की पेशानी पर बल ला दिया है, लेकिन ऐसा भी नहीं है कि इसने खेतों में खड़ी फसलों को पूरी तरह चौपट कर दिया। कुछ फसलों के लिए हल्की बारिश किसी अमृत से कम नहीं होती। मिसाल के लिए, गेहूं, चना, मटर, मसूर जैसी फसलों के लिए यह बारिश काम की साबित हो सकती है, क्योंकि ये सभी फसलें अब पकने के करीब हैं। जहां तक गेहूं की बात करें, तो यह बस कटने को है, इसलिए हल्की बारिश से मिट्टी में प्राकृतिक नमी आती है, जो जड़ों के विकास के लिए बहुत अच्छी होती है। सिंचाई का खर्च इससे बचता है।

इसी तरह, चना और मटर जैसी फसलों को भी इस तरह की नमी से फायदा मिलता है। उनके दाने कहीं अधिक पुष्ट होते हैं और निखरकर सामने आते हैं। इसीलिए अभी की चारिश के बाद पैदावार बढ़ने की उम्मीद भी की जा रही है। अभी कुछ पहाड़ी इलाकों में बर्फबारी भी हुई है। इसका फायदा सेब, अखरोट और बादाम के बागानों को हो सकता है। सर्दी बढ़ने से इन पेड़ों की पोषक जरूरतें पूरी होती हैं, जिसके कारण उनमें अच्छे फल निकलकर सामने आते हैं।

हां, अगर खेतों में पानी लग जाए, तो फसलों को नुकसान हो सकता है, इसीलिए किसानों का प्रयास खेतों से जल्द पानी निकालने का होना चाहिए। यदि वे कुछ सावधानी अपनाएं, तो हो सकता है कि उन्हें इस बारिश का अधिकाधिक लाभहो। मसलन, जिन इलाकों में बारिश ज्यादा हो रही है, वहां खेतों में जल निकासी का उचित प्रबंधन करना अनिवार्य है। इतना ही नहीं, बारिश के समय खाद या कीटनाशकों के छिड़काव से भी बचने का प्रयास होना चाहिए, क्योंकि इससे किसानों का ही नुकसान होगा। हालांकि, कृषि विशेषज्ञ यह भी सलाह देते हैं कि अभी फफूंदनाशक दवाओं का प्रयोग जरूर करना चाहिए, क्योंकि वातावरण में नमी बढ़ने से फसलों में फफूंद लगने का खतरा बढ़ जाता है। जहां बारिश हो रही है, वहां के किसानों को अभी अपनी फसलों का पूरा ख्याल रखना चाहिए और जरूरत के हिसाब से ही सिंचाई या दवाओं का छिड़काव करना चाहिए। फिजूल की कवायद उनकी चिंता बढ़ा सकती है।

साफ है, अभी हो रही बारिश रवी की फसलों के लिए मिली-जुली साबित होगी। मेरे विचार से यह पानी गेहूं की फसल के लिए वरदान साबित हो सकती है, बशर्ते खेतों को जलभराव से बचाया जाए। इसके साथ ही, उचित प्रबंधन हमें अन्य फसलों में भी सुरक्षा दे सकता है। मौसम चक्र बिगड़ने के कारण हमें फसल चक्र में उचित बदलाव करना ही होगा।

While it is true that this unseasonal rainfall has caused furrowed brows among farmers, it is not the case that it has completely ruined the standing crops in the fields. For certain crops, light rainfall is nothing short of nectar. For instance, this rain could prove beneficial for crops such as wheat, gram, peas, and lentils, as all of these are currently nearing maturity. As far as wheat is concerned, it is on the verge of harvest; thus, light rain infuses the soil with natural moisture, which is excellent for root development. This also helps save on irrigation costs.

Similarly, crops like gram and peas also benefit from such moisture. Their grains become significantly more robust and develop with greater quality. Consequently, an increase in yield is anticipated following the recent rainfall. Additionally, some hilly regions have recently experienced snowfall. This could prove advantageous for apple, walnut, and almond orchards. The increased winter chill helps fulfill the nutritional requirements of these trees, thereby leading to a bountiful fruit harvest.

However, if water accumulates in the fields, the crops could suffer damage; therefore, farmers should prioritize draining the water from their fields as quickly as possible. By exercising certain precautions, they may be able to derive the maximum benefit from this rainfall. For instance, in areas experiencing heavy rainfall, establishing proper drainage systems in the fields is imperative. Furthermore, farmers should refrain from spraying fertilizers or pesticides during the rain, as doing so would only result in financial loss for them. Nevertheless, agricultural experts strongly recommend the application of fungicides at this juncture, as the increased atmospheric moisture heightens the risk of fungal infections in crops. Farmers in rain-affected regions should take meticulous care of their crops at this time, undertaking irrigation or pesticide spraying only when absolutely necessary; any unnecessary activity could merely exacerbate their concerns. Clearly, the ongoing rainfall will prove to have a mixed impact on the Rabi crops. In my view, this moisture could prove to be a boon for the wheat crop, provided that the fields are protected from waterlogging. Furthermore, proper management can offer protection to other crops as well. Given the disruption in weather patterns, we must implement appropriate changes in our cropping cycles.
