उत्सवों का महीना दिसंबर
क्रिसमस की तारीख पच्चीस दिसंबर है, लेकिन क्रिसमस की शुरुआत पहली दिसंबर से ही हो जाती है। इस महीने के चारों हफ्तों को एड्वेंट सीजन कहा जाता है। एड्वेंट सीजन में लोग बाजारों, घरों और गिरिजाघरों में खुशियां मनाते हैं। अपने घरों को सजाते हैं। पकवान बनाते हैं और एक-दूसरे के साथ मिल-बांट खाते हैं। आइए इसे गहराई से समझते हैं:
पहला रविवार ‘आशा’ का है। यह हमें याद दिलाता है कि प्रभु यीशु मसीह का इस संसार में आना ही हमारी सबसे बड़ी आशा है। वह आशा, जो जरूर पूरी होगी। ईसाई समुदाय विश्वास के जरिये ही इस आशा को बनाए रखते हैं। बाइबिल इस बात को कुछ इस तरह बताती है- ‘क्योंकि जो आशा देखी जाती है, वह आशा नहीं।’ (रोमियों 8:24), यानी जो आप देख सकते हैं, वह तो सामने है, लेकिन जो नहीं देख सकते वही आशा है।
दूसरा रविवार ‘शांति’ के रविवार के रूप में मनाया जाता है। यीशु मसीह शांति के दूत हैं। दुख और परेशानी से भरी दुनिया में शांति लाने वाले यीशु मसीह इंसान को सच्ची शांति देते हैं। बाइबिल के अनुसार- ‘मैं तुम्हें शांति देता हूं, जैसी संसार देता है, वैसी नहीं।’ (यूहन्ना 14:27)। इसका अर्थ यह है कि जो शांति यीशु देता है, उसको वही महसूस कर सकता है, जिसने इसका अनुभव किया हो। यह शांति ऐसी नहीं है, जैसी संसार में होती है। यह अलग है, खास है। तीसरा रविवार ‘आनंद’ का है। यह यीशु के जन्म के आनंद की घोषणा करता है। वह आनंद, जो अद्भुत है। जो इसका अनुभव करता है, वही इसका बयान कर सकता है। यह आनंद इंसान को ताकत देता है। बाइबिल बताती है- ‘प्रभु में सदा आनंदित रहो।’ (फिलिप्पियों 4:4), इसका अर्थ है कि हमें हर परस्थिति में आनंदित रहना चाहिए, क्योंकि प्रभु का आनंद ही हमारी ताकत है।
चौथा रविवार ‘प्रेम’ का प्रतीक है। यीशु ही प्रेम है। यीशु ने हमें सिखाया कि हम अपने परमेश्वर से और सब से प्रेम करें। बाइबिल का वचन यह कहता है-‘क्योंकि परमेश्वर ने जगत से ऐसा प्रेम रखा कि उसने अपना एकलौता पुत्र दे दिया।’ (यूहन्ना 3:16)। इसका अर्थ यह है कि पिता परमेश्वर ने अपने पुत्र को दुनिया के लिए बलिदान के रूप में भेजा। चरनी में पैदा होकर, क्रूस पर जान देकर, प्रभु यीशु ने प्रेम का परचम लहराया।
इस अवसर पर कैरोल सिंगिंग होती है। यीशु मसीह के लिए गीत गाकर उसकी महिमा को बढ़ाना ही कैरोल सिंगिंग है। कुछ प्रचलित गीत जैसे- ‘जॉय टू द वल्र्ड’, ‘साइलेंट नाईट’ हैं। कैरोल सिंगिंग के माध्यम से लोग समूह बनाकर गीत गाते हैं और यह शुभ समाचार सुनाते हैं कि यीशु हमारे पापों के लिए जन्मा। उसने क्रूस पर अपने प्राण देकर हमें धोया और नया जीवन दिया। लोग बड़े जोश से रात में ग्रुप बनाकर, साज लेकर दोस्तों के घर जाकर गीत गाते हैं और प्रभु यीशु के नाम का गुणगान करते हैं।
क्रिसमस के बाद आती है, वॉच नाइट सर्विस। वाँच नाइट सर्विस वह विशेष आराधना सभा होती है, जो इकतीस दिसंबर की रात को पुराने वर्ष को विदा करने और नए वर्ष का स्वागत करने के लिए आयोजित की जाती है। इस रात लोग परमेश्वर की उपस्थिति में जागते हुए प्रार्थना, भजन, आराधना और वचन के द्वारा समय बिताते हैं। इसका उद्देश्य यह है कि हम बीते वर्ष के लिए धन्यवाद दें। अपनी गलतियों के लिए पश्चाताप करें और नए वर्ष को परमेश्वर को समर्पित करें। आत्मिक जागरूकता में बने रहें। बाइबिल हमें बताती है- ‘इस कारण जागते रहो, क्योंकि तुम नहीं जानते कि तुम्हारा प्रभु किस दिन आएगा।’ (मत्ती 24:42) –

Christmas is on December 25th, but the Christmas season begins on December 1st. The four weeks of this month are called the Advent season. During Advent, people celebrate in markets, homes, and churches. They decorate their homes, prepare special dishes, and share meals with one another. Let’s understand this in more detail:
The first Sunday is the Sunday of ‘Hope’. It reminds us that the coming of Lord Jesus Christ into this world is our greatest hope. That hope will surely be fulfilled. The Christian community maintains this hope through faith. The Bible explains this as follows: “For in this hope we were saved. But hope that is seen is no hope at all.” (Romans 8:24), meaning that what you can see is already present, but what you cannot see is hope.
The second Sunday is celebrated as the Sunday of ‘Peace’. Jesus Christ is the messenger of peace. In a world full of sorrow and trouble, Jesus Christ, who brings peace, gives true peace to humanity. According to the Bible, “Peace I leave with you; my peace I give you. I do not give to you as the world gives.” (John 14:27). This means that the peace that Jesus gives can only be felt by those who have experienced it. This peace is not like the peace of the world. It is different, it is special. The third Sunday is the Sunday of ‘Joy’. It proclaims the joy of Jesus’ birth. That joy is wonderful. Only those who experience it can describe it. This joy gives strength to people. The Bible says, “Rejoice in the Lord always.” (Philippians 4:4), meaning that we should rejoice in every situation, because the joy of the Lord is our strength.
The fourth Sunday symbolizes ‘Love’. Jesus is love. Jesus taught us to love our God and to love everyone. The Bible says, “For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son” (John 3:16). This means that God the Father sent his Son as a sacrifice for the world. Born in a manger and giving his life on the cross, Lord Jesus exemplified love.
On this occasion, carol singing takes place. Carol singing is the act of glorifying Jesus Christ by singing hymns about him. Some popular carols include “Joy to the World” and “Silent Night.” Through carol singing, people gather in groups to sing and share the good news that Jesus was born for our sins. He washed us clean and gave us new life by sacrificing his life on the cross. People enthusiastically form groups at night, carrying musical instruments, and go to their friends’ homes to sing and praise the name of Lord Jesus.
Following Christmas is the Watch Night Service. The Watch Night Service is a special worship service held on the night of December 31st to bid farewell to the old year and welcome the new year. On this night, people spend time in God’s presence, praying, singing hymns, worshipping, and reflecting on God’s word. The purpose is to give thanks for the past year, repent of our mistakes, and dedicate the new year to God. It is a time to remain spiritually vigilant. The Bible tells us, “Therefore keep watch, because you do not know on what day your Lord will come” (Matthew 24:42).
