उचित स्थान नहीं बना पाई हमारी भाषा
हिंदी भले ही संघर्ष की भाषा हो, बहुसंख्य जनता की भाषा हो, पर अपना वह स्थान न बना पाई, जिस जगह की वह वास्तव में हकदार थी। उसकी उपेक्षा, जितनी गैर-हिंदी आंग्लभाषियों ने की, उससे कम हिंदी प्रदेश के लेखकों ने नहीं की। कहने का मतलब है कि हिंदी प्रदेश के साहित्यकारों ने अब तक अपने कृतित्व और व्यक्तित्व पर ही बातें कीं, हिंदी के भविष्य की चिंता नहीं की। कुछ अपवादों को छोड़ दें, तो उन्होंने उसकी भविष्णुता पर खास सवाल नहीं उठाए। गोकि, हिंदी के पुरोधा लेखकों के पास भारतेंदु, महावीर प्रसाद द्विवेदी, श्याम सुंदर दास आदि जैसे कुछ चिंतक- लेखकों को छोड़कर य अपनी कोई सोच या दृष्टि नहीं है। इनमें से अधिकतर अपनी रचनाओं को लेकर मुग्ध हैं। अरे भाई, मान लेंगे कि आपकी कविता, कहानी, उपन्यास, संस्मरण, सब कुछ उत्कृष्ट कोटि के हैं और वे अंग्रेजी या अन्य भाषा साहित्य से बराबर की टक्कर लेने में समर्थ भी हैं, लेकिन इन सारी बातों को पूरी ताकत से विश्व पटल पर रखेगा कौन ?
आप अगर समझते हैं कि यह आपका काम नहीं है, हिंदी शास्त्रियों या भाषा विज्ञानियों का काम है, तो कहां हैं ये, जो वैश्विक साहित्य के पटल पर इसकी वकालत कर सकें ? हिंदी की रचनाधर्मिता के गुण-गौरव का एहसास बिना हिंदी-शक्ति के आभास के नहीं हो सकता। उल्टे व्यापारिक और विज्ञापन की भाषा बन जाने के कारण यह अब अपनी जड़ से भी कटने लगी है। बाहर से आकर कोई इस दिशा में पहल करने से तो रहा। लिखने से ज्यादा जरूरी है, पहले से लिखे का प्रसार। प्रसार तभी संभव है, जब हिंदी भाषा के प्रति मेरे खुद के मन में व्यापक मोह पैदा हो, तभी उस मोह से माया की उत्पत्ति होगी। मगर यह व्यामोह हमारे लेखकों की आत्ममुग्धता और स्वार्थ तक ही सीमित है। हम न भाषा विज्ञानियों, लेखकों की कद्र करते हैं, न हिंदी वैयाकरणिकों की, बल्कि जो सच्चे मन से इस दिशा में लगना चाहते हैं, उनका मजाक उड़ाते हैं, उनको मानसिक कष्ट देते हैं। उनको मुख्यधारा में लाने और उन पर कभी गंभीर चर्चा करने की आवश्यकता ही नहीं समझते। कोई भी लेखक या कवि अगर यह समझता है कि जो कुछ भी ‘सु’ है, उसे लिख देने मात्र से ही समाज और साहित्य का भला हो जाएगा, तो वह भारी गलतफहमी का शिकार है। सही सवाल तो यह है कि उसके इस इतने अच्छे लिखे को कितने लोग पढ़ते हैं ? बिना पाठकीयता (रीडरशिप) सब बेमानी है, व्यर्थ है।

Hindi may be the language of struggle, the language of the majority of the people, but it could not make the place it actually deserved. The writers of the Hindi region ignored it no less than the non-Hindi Anglophones did. It means to say that till now the litterateurs of Hindi state have talked only about their work and personality and did not worry about the future of Hindi. With a few exceptions, they did not specifically question his future. However, except some thinkers and writers like Bharatendu, Mahavir Prasad Dwivedi, Shyam Sundar Das etc., the leading writers of Hindi do not have any thinking or vision of their own. Most of them are fascinated by their creations. Hey brother, we will accept that your poetry, stories, novels, memoirs, everything is of excellent quality and they are capable of competing equally with English or other language literature, but we will put all these things on the world stage with full force. Who ?
If you think that this is not your work, it is the work of Hindi scholars or linguists, then where are they who can advocate it on the platform of global literature? The glory of Hindi creativity cannot be realized without the realization of Hindi power. On the contrary, because it has become the language of business and advertising, it has now started getting cut off from its roots. Someone from outside has been prevented from taking initiative in this direction. More important than writing is the dissemination of what has already been written. Spreading is possible only when there is a widespread fascination in my own mind towards the Hindi language, only then Maya will arise from that fascination. But this paranoia is limited to the narcissism and selfishness of our writers. We neither respect linguists, writers, nor Hindi grammarians, rather we make fun of those who sincerely want to pursue this direction, and give them mental trouble. They do not understand the need to bring them into the mainstream and ever have a serious discussion on them. If any writer or poet thinks that just writing whatever is ‘good’ will be beneficial for the society and literature, then he is the victim of a huge misunderstanding. The right question is, how many people read this well written work of his? Without readership everything is meaningless, useless.
