छोटे पितृ पक्ष का महत्व
पौष मास को छोटा ‘पितृ पक्ष’ भी कहा जाता है। इसमें भी विशेष रूप से पौष मास की अमावस्या पितरों के लिए खास महत्व रखती है। ऐसा माना जाता है कि इस दिन पितरों की पूजा करने पर उन्हें मुक्ति मिलती है। इससे प्रसन्न होकर वे आशीर्वाद स्वरूप हमारे कार्यों में आ रही बाधाओं को दूर कर हमें सुख-समृद्धि प्रदान करते हैं।
पौष मास
पौष मास की पूर्णिमा को चंद्रमा पुष्य नक्षत्र में होता है, इसलिए इसे पौष कहते हैं। पौष मास में ही धनु संक्रांति होती है। सूर्य के धनु राशि में जाने पर ‘खर’ मास आरंभ होता है। इस मास में मांगलिक और शुभ कार्य वर्जित होते है। पौष मास में ‘भग’ नाम के सूर्व की उपासना की जाती है। सूर्य और पितरों की उपासना के साथ-साथ धार्मिक-आध्यात्मिक चिंतन के लिए इस मास को श्रेष्ठ माना जाता है। कल्पवास भी पौष पूर्णिमा से शुरू होकर माघ पूर्णिमा तक चलता है। यह एक महीने की आध्यात्मिक साधना है, जो मुख्य रूप से पवित्र तीर्थराज प्रयागराज में संगम तट पर की जाती है। पौष मास (D5 दिसंबर से आरंभ) को छोटा ‘पितृ पक्ष’ भी कहा जाता है। कनागत यानी के कन्या राशि में आने पर होने वाले मुख्य पितृ सूर्य पक्ष के अलावा इस माह में भी श्राद्ध कर्म तथा पिंडदान के साथ-साथ भगवान विष्णु और सूर्य की पूजा का विशेष महत्व है।
संपूर्ण पौष मास, विशेषकर पौष अमावस्या पितरों को मुक्ति दिलाने का दिन है। इस दिन पितृगणों की पूजा करने से पितरों के देवता ‘अर्थमा’ प्रसन्न होकर वंश, धन, आयु, बल की वृद्धि करते हैं। अमावस्या तीन तरह की बताई गई हैं। सूर्योदय से शुरू होकर पूरी रात अमावस्या तिथि हो, तो उसे ‘सिनीवाली अमावस्या’ कहा जाता है। चतुर्दशी के साथ अमावस्या तिथि हो, तो उसे ‘दर्श अमावस्या’ कहा गया है। इसके अलावा जब अमावस्या के साथ प्रतिपदा तिथि भी हो, तो उसे ‘कुहू अमावस्या’ कहा गया है।
लोकमानस में पौष अमावस्या के व्रत से जुड़ी एक कथा प्रचलित है। किसी गांव में एक गरीब ब्राह्मण था। बहुत यत्न करने पर भी गरीबी के कारण उसकी बेटी का विवाह नहीं हो पा रहा था। एक दिन उसके घर एक सिद्ध साधु आए। उन्होंने उस ब्राह्मण की सेवा से प्रसन्न होकर आशीर्वाद दिया। यहीं नहीं, उसकी कन्या का शीघ्र विवाह हो जाए, उसके लिए एक उपाय बताया। साधु ने उस कन्या से कहा कि यहां से कुछ दूरी पर एक गरीब परिवार रहता है। यदि – वह प्रतिदिन वहां जाकर उसकी पत्नी की सेवा – करे, तो उसके आशीर्वाद से उसके विवाह में आने वाली रुकावट दूर हो जाएगी और उसका – विवाह शीघ्र हो जाएगा।
साधु के कहे अनुसार वह लड़की कार्य करने -लगी। उस घर में रहने वाली स्त्री यह देखकर हैरान थी कि पिछले कई दिनों से सुबह उसके उठने से पहले ही कोई उसके सारे काम कर जाता है। उसके मन में यह जानने की उत्सुकता हुई। अगले दिन वह सुबह जल्दी उठकर छिप कर यह देखने लगी कि कौन उसके कार्य करता है। कुछ देर में वह लड़की आई और उसने रोज की तरह झोपड़ी की साफ-सफाई की। तभी वह स्त्री उसके सामने आ गई और उसने इसका कारण पूछा। लड़की ने उसे साधु वाली सारी बात बता दी। उस स्त्री ने लड़की की सच्चाई और सेवा से खुश होकर उसके शीघ्र विवाह होने का आशीर्वाद दिया।
लेकिन आशीर्वाद देने के कुछ देर बाद ही उस स्त्री के पति की मृत्यु हो गई। इतना होने पर भी उसने हिम्मत नहीं हारी और झोपड़ी के बाहर लगे पीपल के वृक्ष की पूजा करते हुए 108 परिक्रमा की और अपने पति का जीवन लौटाने की प्रार्थना की। उसकी पूजा से प्रसन्न होकर भगवान विष्णु ने उसके पति को जीवित कर दिया। ऐसा लोक विश्वास है कि जो व्यक्ति पौष अमावस्या के दिन स्नान-दान कर पीपल की परिक्रमा कर भगवान विष्णु की पूजा करता है, उसकी सभी मनोकामनाएं पूरी होती हैं।

Auspicious and auspicious activities are prohibited during this month. The Sun, named Bhaga, is worshipped during Paush month. This month is considered auspicious for religious and spiritual contemplation, along with worshipping the Sun and ancestors. Kalpavas also begins on Paush Purnima and continues until Magh Purnima. This is a month-long spiritual practice, primarily performed on the banks of the Sangam in the holy holy city of Prayagraj. The month of Paush (beginning December 5th) is also known as the shortened “Pitru Paksha.” In addition to the main Pitru Surya Paksha, which occurs when the Sun enters the Virgo zodiac sign (Kanagat), Shraddha rituals and Pind Daan (the period of the birth of a Pitru), as well as the worship of Lord Vishnu and Surya, hold special significance during this month.
The entire month of Paush, especially the Paush Amavasya, is dedicated to the liberation of ancestors. Worshiping the ancestors on this day pleases the deity of ancestors, Arthama, and increases lineage, wealth, longevity, and strength. There are three types of Amavasya. If the Amavasya tithi begins at sunrise and continues throughout the night, it is called “Siniwali Amavasya.” If the Amavasya tithi is accompanied by Chaturdashi, it is called “Darsh Amavasya.” Furthermore, when the Amavasya tithi is accompanied by Pratipada tithi, it is called “Kuhu Amavasya.”
There’s a popular story associated with the fast of Paush Amavasya. There lived a poor Brahmin in a village. Despite his best efforts, poverty prevented his daughter from getting married. One day, a sage visited his home. Pleased with the Brahmin’s service, he blessed him. Furthermore, he offered a solution to ensure his daughter’s early marriage. The sage told the girl that a poor family lived a short distance away. If she went there daily and served their wife, his blessings would remove the obstacles to her marriage, and she would soon be married.
The girl began to work as the sage had instructed. The woman living in the house was surprised to see that for the past several days, someone had been doing all her chores before she woke up. She became curious. The next day, she woke up early and secretly observed who was doing her chores. After some time, the girl came and cleaned the hut as usual. Just then, the woman approached her and asked the reason. The girl told her everything about the saint. Pleased with her truthfulness and devotion, the woman blessed her with a speedy marriage.
But shortly after giving her blessings, the woman’s husband died. Despite this, she remained undeterred and worshipped the Peepal tree outside her hut, circumambulating it 108 times, and prayed for her husband’s life back. Pleased with her prayers, Lord Vishnu restored her husband to life. It is a popular belief that anyone who bathes, donates, circumambulates, and worships Lord Vishnu on the day of Paush Amavasya will have all their wishes fulfilled.
