संचार साधी एप की जरूरत हमें कितनी है, इसका पता दूरसंचार विभाग द्वारा दी गई एक जरूरी जानकारी से चलता है। केंद्र सरकार के संचार मंत्रालय के तहत काम करने वाला यह विभाग बताता है कि इस साल अक्तूबर महीने में 50 हजार मोबाइल हैंडसेट को रिकवर किया गया है, जो चोरी हुए या फिर गुम हुए थे। गौरतलब है कि साल 2023 में संचार साथी प्लेटफॉर्म को लॉन्च किया गया था और इसकी मदद से अब तक सात लाख से ज्यादा गुम हुए मोबाइल फोन खोजे जा चुके हैं। यही कारण है कि सरकार इस एप को अपने फोन में रखने की सलाह लोगों को दे रही है, ताकि फोन गुम होने से होने वाले नुकसान से उन्हें कुछ हद तक बचाया जा सके।

यह एप न सिर्फ रिपोर्ट, ब्लॉक और चोरी हुए फोन को खोजने का काम करता है, बल्कि यह फेक मोबाइल हैंडसेट को पहचानने में भी मदद करता है। इस तरह यह उपभोक्ताओं को साइबर सुरक्षा मुहैया कराता है, जिसकी उन्हें सख्त जरूरत है। एक ऐसे वक्त में, जथ हमें यह पता नहीं कि कौन-कहां से हमें साइबर धोखाधड़ी का शिकार बना दे या कौन किस तरह का वायरस हमारे फोन में इंस्टॉल कर दे, हमें ऐसे ‘फायरवॉल’ की जरूरत है, जो न सिर्फ इस तरह की धोखाधड़ी से बचाए, बल्कि हमारे फोन और डाटा की सुरक्षा भी सुनिश्चित करे। इस मामले में संचार साथी एप काफी कारगर साबित हो रहा है। कुछ लोग बेशक निजता के हनन का कथित मुद्दा उठाकर इस एप की आलोचना कर रहे हैं, लेकिन ये आलोचक मूलतः राजनीतिक विद्वेष में आकर एक अच्छे एप की आलोचना कर रहे हैं। चूंकि उनका काम सरकार के हर काम में खामियां निकालना है, इसलिए इस नए प्रयास को वे गैर-जरूरी और आम लोगों के जीवन में दखल बताने में जुटे हुए हैं। अपने इस प्रयास में वे शायद ही सफल हो सकेंगे, क्योंकि जनता अब अपने हितों की रक्षा करना जानती है। यह समझ रही है कि आखिर क्यों सरकार ने इस एप को अपने-अपने फोन में इंस्टॉल करने की सलाह दी है।

संचार साथी एप उपभोक्ताओं के नाम पर मोबाइल कनेक्शन की संख्या बताने, बैंकों व वित्तीय संस्थानों के विश्वसनीय नंबरों की जांच करने में भी मदद करता है। इतना ही नहीं, यह मोबाइल कनेक्शनों की जांच, हैंडसेट के असली होने की पुष्टि, संदिग्ध संचार या स्पैम की रिपोर्ट आदि करने का काम भी करता है। यही वजह से इसे हर फोन में होना ही चाहिए। यह भारतीय उपभोक्ताओं की सुरक्षा के लिए बनाया गया है।

This app not only reports, blocks, and locates stolen phones, but also helps identify fake mobile handsets. Thus, it provides consumers with the cybersecurity they desperately need. At a time when we don’t know who might be a victim of cyber fraud or who might install a virus on our phones, we need a firewall that not only protects us from such fraud but also ensures the security of our phones and data. The Sanchar Saathi app is proving to be quite effective in this regard. While some are criticizing the app, citing alleged privacy violations, these critics are essentially criticizing a good app out of political vengeance. Since their job is to find fault with every government initiative, they are busy portraying this new initiative as unnecessary and intrusive in the lives of ordinary people. They will hardly succeed in this endeavor, as the public now knows how to protect its own interests. It is beginning to understand why the government has advised users to install this app on their phones.
