अर्जेंटीना के दिग्गज फुटबॉलर मेसी का भारत दौरा अच्छा था, पर हमें पंजाब फुटबॉल क्लब के निदेशक की बातों पर भी गौर करना चाहिए। मीडिया खबरों की “मानें, तो उन्होंने यह कहा कि अगर मेसी के किसी दौरे पर 150 करोड़ रुपये खर्च करने के बजाय यह राशि भारतीय फुटबॉल की तरक्की में लगाई जाती, तो देश में ही 10 मेसी तैयार हो जाते। उनके अनुसार, असली जरूरत विदेशी सितारों की नहीं, बल्कि मजबूत और टिकाऊ फुटबॉल तंत्र बनाने की है। वाकई, सही योजना, आधुनिक कोचिंग और बेहतर बुनियादी ढांचे की तरफ ध्यान दिया जाए, तो भारत में भी मेसी जैसे विश्वस्तरीय खिलाड़ी पैदा हो सकते हैं। वैसे भी, अपने देश में फुटबॉल को लेकर दीवानगी कम नहीं है। कई उम्दा खिलाड़ी यहां मौजूद हैं, जिनकी मदद ली जा सकती है। यदि जमीनी स्तर पर निवेश किया जाए, तो यहां के लड़के लड़कियां फुटबॉल को एक बेहतर विकल्प के रूप में देख सकेंगी। अभी होता यह है कि बाजार के कारण क्रिकेट का बोलबाला है। नतीजतन, बच्चे भी क्रिकेट की तरफ ज्यादा आकर्षित होते हैं, जबकि फुटबॉल जिस तरह का खेल है, उसमें हम विश्व स्तर पर बेहतर प्रदर्शन कर सकते हैं। जाहिर है, फीफा विश्व कप जीतने का सपना केवल बड़े नामों को भारत बुलाने से साकार नहीं हो सकता, बल्कि इसके लिए मजबूत व्यवस्था भी बनानी होगी। हमें इस तरफ संजीदगी से ध्यान देना चाहिए।
