We still lag far behind in scientific progress.

वैज्ञानिक प्रगति में अब भी हम बहुत पीछे

आज पूरी दुनिया तरक्की कर रही है; विज्ञान, तकनीक और नवाचार में नई ऊंचाइयां छू रही है, लेकिन हमारे हिन्दुस्तान में कुछ लोग अब भी जाति और धर्म के नाम पर आपस में लड़ रहे हैं। विदेशी मोबाइल, विदेशी कंप्यूटर और विदेशी तकनीक का उपयोग तो सब कर रहे हैं, लेकिन खुद के अंदर कुछ नया बनाने का जज्बा कहीं खो गया है। वे अपने दम पर ऐसी तकनीक नहीं विकसित कर पा रहे कि विज्ञान के क्षेत्र में भारत का नाम विश्वे में रोशन हो। आज जब हम सोशल मीडिया खोलते हैं, तो ज्ञान और सद्भाव की जगह नफरत, गाली-गलौज और हिंसा से भरे वीडियो दिखते हैं। कहीं मार-काट है, कहीं बलात्कार की खबरें, कहीं चोरी के दृश्य- यह सब देखकर शर्म आती है कि क्या यही वह भारत है, जो विश्वगुरु कहलाता था ? क्या यही वह सभ्यता है, जहां राम, कृष्ण, बुद्ध और विवेकानंद जैसे महान विचारक पैदा हुए? हमें यह समझना चाहिए कि केवल डिग्रियां लेने से कोई बुद्धिमान नहीं बन सकता। असली समझदारी अपने देश, समाज और तकनीक के विकास में योगदान देने से आती है। जब हम जाति और धर्म के नाम पर लड़ाई करते हैं, तब हम वही कर रहे होते हैं, जो कभी अंग्रेजों ने ‘फूट डालो और राज करो’ के नाम पर किया था। फर्क बस इतना है कि पहले वे हमें मानसिक रूप से गुलाम बनाते थे, आज हम खुद अपनी सोच से गुलाम बने बैठे हैं। तय है कि विदेशी तकनीक पर निर्भर रहकर हम कभी आत्मनिर्भर नहीं बन सकते। आज हम जिस मोबाइल से झगड़ रहे हैं, जिस एप पर एक-दूसरे को नीचा दिखा रहे हैं, वह किसी दूसरे देश-अमेरिका, चीन, जापान या यूरोप की देन है। इसलिए अब समय आ गया है कि हम वैज्ञानिक प्रगति में अपनी ऊर्जा लगाएं।

कोई भी देश सरकारों से नहीं, बल्कि जनता की समझदारी से बनता है। और, जनता तभी समझदार बनेगी, जब वैज्ञानिक चेतना को अपने अंतस में उतारेगी।

आज की सच्चाई यही है कि दुनिया के दूसरे देश अपनी औद्योगिक व सामरिक ताकत कायम करने के लिए नई तकनीकी का प्रयोग कर रहे हैं, जबकि भारत ऐसा कोई नवाचार करने के बजाय उनसे कई गुना महंगे दामों में तकनीक खरीद रहा है। ऐसा इसलिए है, क्योंकि आज हमारे समाज में इतना सांप्रदायिक ध्रुवीकरण हो चुका है कि विज्ञान पर नफरत भारी है और बौद्धिक वर्ग हताश। ज्ञान-विज्ञान के अनसुंधान संस्थान बर्बाद हो रहे हैं और तर्क पर धर्म हावी है। इसे रोकना होगा।

Today, the entire world is progressing; science, technology, and innovation are reaching new heights. Yet, in our own country, some people still fight among themselves in the name of caste and religion. Everyone uses foreign mobile phones, computers, and technology, but the passion to create something new has been lost. They are unable to develop technologies on their own that would make India’s name known globally in the field of science. Today, when we open social media, instead of knowledge and harmony, we see videos filled with hatred, abuse, and violence. There are incidents of violence, reports of rape, and scenes of theft—all this makes us feel ashamed. Is this the India that was once called the world leader? Is this the civilization that gave birth to great thinkers like Ram, Krishna, Buddha, and Vivekananda? We must understand that acquiring degrees alone does not make one wise. True wisdom comes from contributing to the development of our country, society, and technology. When we fight in the name of caste and religion, we are doing the same thing that the British once did in the name of “divide and rule.” The only difference is that while they enslaved us mentally, today we are enslaved by our own thinking. It’s certain that we can never become self-reliant by relying on foreign technology. The mobile phones we fight with today, the apps we use to belittle each other, are gifts from other countries—America, China, Japan, or Europe. Therefore, the time has come to focus our energy on scientific progress.

A nation is built not by governments, but by the wisdom of its people. And the people will become wise only when they internalize scientific consciousness.

The reality today is that other countries around the world are using new technologies to establish their industrial and strategic power, while India, instead of innovating, is purchasing technology from them at prices many times higher. This is because our society today is so communally polarized that hatred outweighs science, and the intelligentsia is frustrated. Scientific research institutions are being destroyed, and religion dominates reason. This must be stopped.
