New Delhi, Agency. The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) has issued new rules for reactivating dormant bank accounts and unclaimed amounts. Under this, now 121 customers can get their closed account started again from any branch of the concerned bank.
Earlier, for this, one had to go to the same branch of the bank where the account was opened. Many documents and procedures had to be completed to restart a dormant account, due to which customers felt inconvenienced. The new rules will provide great relief to rural and elderly customers. Along with this, KYC can also be done through video conferencing while starting the account. If the customer wants, he can verify his identity through video KYC or bank representative.
What are dormant accounts: If a bank account is not used for 10 years or more, then it is considered a dormant account. Similarly, if a deposit remains unclaimed for 10 years, it is called an unclaimed deposit. The amount of such accounts is sent to the Depositor Education and Awareness Fund of RBI.
Instructions for banks
To activate a closed account, the customer will have to apply by visiting the concerned bank branch located near the house.
The bank will have to provide information related to this to the customer. They cannot refuse it.
Banks will have to provide the facility of updating KYC through video conferencing or bank representative.
No fee will be charged for activating the accounts.
They will give information about inactive accounts and unclaimed amount to the customers from time to time.
It will also be mandatory for banks to make public the information of such amount on their official website.
बंद खाते को किसी भी बैंक शाखा से शुरू करा सकेंगे
नई दिल्ली, एजेंसी। भारतीय रिजर्व बैंक (आरबीआई) ने निष्क्रिय बैंक खातों और बिना दावे वाली रकम को फिर से सक्रिय करने के लिए नए नियम जारी किए हैं। इसके तहत अब 121 ग्राहक अपने बंद पड़े खाते को संबंधित बैंक की किसी भी शाखा से फिर से शुरू करवा सकते हैं।
पहले इसके लिए बैंक की उसी शाखा में जाना पड़ता था, जहां खाता खोला गया था। निष्क्रिय खाते को दोबारा शुरू करने के लिए कई दस्तावेज और प्रक्रियाएं पूरी करनी पड़ती थीं, जिससे ग्राहक असुविधा महसूस करते थे। नए नियमों से ग्रामीण और बुजुर्ग ग्राहकों को बड़ी राहत मिलेगी। इसके साथ ही खाते को शुरू कराने के दौरान केवाईसी को वीडियो कांफ्रेंसिग के जरिए भी करवाया जा सकेगा। ग्राहक चाहें तो वीडियो केवाईसी या बैंक प्रतिनिध

क्या हैं निष्क्रिय खाते : अगर कोई बैंक खाता 10 साल या
उससे ज्यादा समय तक इस्तेमाल नहीं किया जाता तो उसे निष्क्रिय खाता माना जाता है। इसी तरह, अगर कोई जमा राशि 10 साल तक बिना दावे के रहती है तो वह बिना दावे वाली जमा कहलाती है। ऐसे खातों की रकम को आरबीआई के डिपॉजिटर एजुकेशन एंड अवेयरनेस फंड में भेज दी जाती है।
बैंकों के लिए निर्देश
बंद खाते को शुरू कराने के लिए ग्राहक को घर के पास स्थित संबंधित बैंक की शाखा में जानकर आवेदन करना होगा।
बैंक को इससे जुड़ी जानकारी ग्राहक को उपलब्ध करानी होगी। वो इससे मान नहीं कर सकते हैं।
बैंकों को वीडियो कांफ्रेंसिंग या बैंक प्रतिनिधि के माध्यम से केवाईसी अपडेट कराने की सुविधा देनी होगी।
। खातों को सक्रिय करने के लिए शुल्क नहीं लिया जाएगा।
वे निष्क्रिय खातों और बिना दावे की राशि की जानकारी समय-समय पर ग्राहकों को देंगे।
बैंकों को अपनी आधिकारिक वेबसाइट पर ऐसी राशि की जानकारी सार्वजनिक करना भी अनिवार्य होगा।
