बच्चों को सोशल मीडिया से हटाना चाहिए

आखिरकार ऑस्ट्रेलिया ने 16 साल से कम उम्र के बच्चों के लिए सोशल मीडिया के उपयोग पर पूरा प्रतिबंध लागू कर दिया है। इंस्टाग्राम, फेसबुक, यू-ट्यूब, टिकटॉक, स्नैपचैट, ब्रेड्स, एक्स, रेडिट, ट्विच और फिक जैसे बड़े प्लेटफॉर्म अब बच्चों को अपनी सेवाएं नहीं दे पाएंगे। वहां की सरकार का कहना है कि यह फैसला बच्चों को हानिकारक अश्लील सामग्रियों, ऑनलाइन फ्रॉड, साइबर बुलिंग और लत लगाने वाले एल्गोरिदम से बचाने के लिए लिया गया है। कंपनियां अगर इन बच्चों को ब्लॉक करने में नाकाम रहीं, तो उन पर लगभग पांच करोड़ ऑस्ट्रेलियाई डॉलर तक का भारी जुर्माना लगेगा।

इसके साथ ही ऑस्ट्रेलिया दुनिया का पहला देश बन गया है, जिसने इतना बड़ा कदम उठाया है। सरकार का दावा है कि सोशल मीडिया के एल्गोरिदम बच्चों को देर रात तक स्क्रीन से चिपकाए रखते हैं। कई ऑस्ट्रेलियाई माता-पिता लंबे समय से इसकी शिकायत कर रहे थे कि बच्चे पढ़ाई से दूर हो रहे हैं और कई बार ऑनलाइन बुलिंग या अजीबोगरीब सामग्री के कारण तनाव झेलते हैं। प्रधानमंत्री एंथनी अल्बनीज ने इसे’ ऑस्ट्रेलियाई बच्चों के बचपन को सुरक्षित करने’ का फैसला बताया। उन्होंने कहा कि अगर बच्चे फोन से हटकर खेलेंगे, पढ़ेंगे और दोस्तों से आमने-सामने मिलेंगे, तो समाज पर इसका अच्छा असर पड़ेगा। प्रतिबंधित मंचों की सूची काफी लंबी है और इसमें सभी बड़े प्लेटफॉर्म शामिल हैं। इन कंपनियों को आदेश दिया गया है कि 16 साल से नीचे के बच्चों की पहुंच पूरी तरह रोके।

इस तरह के प्रतिबंध भारत में भी लगाए जाने चाहिए। यहां देखें, तो भारतीय युवा अपनी बोली, संस्कृति के इर्द-गिर्द बने वीडियों कंटेंट से कहीं दूर तक चले गए हैं और वे अन्य देशों-संस्कृतियों-भाषाओं में बने वीडियो बड़े चाव से देख रहे हैं। इनमें से अधिकतर कंटेंट डब होते हैं और अश्लीलता से भरे होते हैं। आंकड़े वताते हैं कि भारत में इस साल 77 फीसदी जेन-जी ने यू-ट्यूब पर दूसरी भाषाओं से डब किया हुआ कंटेंट देखा है। जाहिर सी बात है कि इस तरह के वीडियो देखने से बच्चों के मानस पर बुरा असर पड़ता है और कई बार ये कुंठा और अवसाद तक के शिकार हो जाते हैं और आत्महत्या जैसे कदम उठा लेते हैं। इसलिए जरूरी है कि हमारी सरकार भी ऑस्ट्रेलिया से सबक लेते हुए पूरे देश में किशोर उम्र तक के सभी बच्चों के लिए सोशल मीडिया के किसी भी प्लेटफॉर्म का उपयोग करने पर रोक लगा दे। इससे वे बच्चे अनाप-शनाप बातें दिमाग में भरने की जगह पढ़ाई-लिखाई में मन लगाएंगे और उनका सकारात्मक विकास संभव हो पाएगा।

With this, Australia has become the first country in the world to take such a significant step. The government claims that social media algorithms keep children glued to screens late into the night. Many Australian parents have long complained that children are neglecting their studies and often experience stress due to online bullying or inappropriate content. Prime Minister Anthony Albanese called it a decision to “safeguard the childhood of Australian children.” He said that if children spend less time on their phones and instead play, read, and interact with friends face-to-face, it will have a positive impact on society. The list of banned platforms is quite long and includes all the major platforms. These companies have been ordered to completely restrict access for children under 16 years of age.

Similar restrictions should also be implemented in India. Here, Indian youth have moved far beyond video content based on their own language and culture, and are eagerly watching videos made in other countries, cultures, and languages. Much of this content is dubbed and often contains explicit material. Statistics show that 77 percent of Gen Z in India watched dubbed content from other languages ​​on YouTube this year. Clearly, watching such videos has a negative impact on children’s minds, and in many cases, it leads to frustration and depression, even driving them to suicidal thoughts. Therefore, it is essential that our government, learning from Australia’s example, bans all children up to the age of adolescence from using any social media platform across the country. This will allow these children to focus on their studies instead of filling their minds with inappropriate content, and will enable their positive development.
