Imran Khan’s sisters should not act foolishly.

इमरान की बहनें नासमझी न दिखाएं

इमरान खान को गिरफ्तारी को लेकर एक बार फिर पाकिस्तान की सियासत गर्माई हुई है। खबर है, उनकी बहन अलीमा खान को उनसे मिलने नहीं दिया जा रहा और जेल के भीतर इमरान खान के साथ ज्यादती की जा रही है। दुनिया का कोई शांतिकामी नागरिक, जम्हूरी कौम या सभ्य इंसान इस बात की हिमायत नहीं करेगा कि किसी भी शख्स के साथ जोर-जबर्दस्ती की जाए, मगर इमरान के मामले में ऐसा लगता है कि पश्चिमी मीडिया सनसनी बेच रहा है। अभी चंद रोज पहले इमरान की एक अन्य बहन उज्मा को उनसे मिलवाया गया था और मुलाकात के बाद उन्होंने मीडिया से कहा था कि भाई बहुत गुस्से में थे। कह रहे थे कि वे लोग हमें ‘मेंटल टॉर्चर’ कर रहे हैं। पूरे दिन कमरे में बंद रखते हैं, थोड़ी देर के लिए बाहर जाने देते हैं, मगर किसी से बातचीत की इजाजत नहीं है।

दरअसल, इमरान खान ने जो बोया, वही वह काट रहे हैं। उनके निजाम ने अपने सियासी मुखालिफों के साथ वहीं सुलूक किया, जो उनके साथ हो रहा है। उनके प्रधानमंत्री काल में भी नवाज शरीफ के खानदान के खिलाफ कई मामले शुरू किए गए और उन्हें देश से बाहर ही रहने के लिए बाध्य किया गया। फिर, यह जानते हुए ‌कि फौज से अदावत करके कोई हुक्मरां पाकिस्तान के भीतर चैन से नहीं रह सकता, उन्होंने उसी फौज के खिलाफ मोचर्चा खोल दिया, जिसने उनको प्रधानमंत्री बनवाया था। निस्संदेह, पाकिस्तान की सारी गड़बड़ियों की जड़ में उसकी फौज है, मगर वहां के सियासतदां भी दूध के घुले नहीं हैं। इमरान को अगर लंबे दौर की सियासत करनी थी, तो उनको फौज को भरोसे में रखते हुए आहिस्ता आहिस्ता सांविधानिक संस्थाओं को मजबूत करना चाहिए था। इसमें कोई दोराय नहीं कि अवाम उनके कार्यों से प्रभावित हो रही थी।

अगर चुनावी धांधली नहीं होती, तो शहबाज शरीफ की जगह वह या उनकी पार्टी का नुमाइंदा आज वहां का वजीर-ए-आजम होता, मगर वह हड़बड़ी में थे और सियासत में सबसे जरूरी चीज है धैर्य।

इमरान को अब अदालत से ही राहत की उम्मीद करनी चाहिए। वैसे भी, उन्हें ज्यादातर मामलों में जमानत मिल ही चुकी है। अपनी बहनों व पार्टी के नेताओं-कार्यकर्ताओं के जरिये हंगामा कराकर वह अपने लिए नई मुसीबतें ही मोल लेंगे। उनकी बहनों को भी भाई की खैरियत जानने के लिए अदालत की शरण लेनी चाहिए। वे सीधे मुनीर के खिलाफ मोर्चा खोलकर इमरान की परेशानियां बढ़ा रही हैं, क्योंकि मुनीर इस वक्त सबसे ताकतवर पाकिस्तानी हैं, जिन्हें अमेरिका, चीन और पश्चिम एशिया के देश शहबाज शरीफ से ज्यादा अहमियत दे रहे हैं।

Pakistan’s politics has once again heated up over Imran Khan’s arrest. Reports indicate that his sister, Aleema Khan, is not being allowed to meet him, and that he is being subjected to cruelty inside the prison. No peace-loving citizen, democratic nation, or civilized person in the world would condone any use of force against anyone, but in Imran Khan’s case, it appears that Western media is fueling sensationalism. Just a few days ago, another of Imran Khan’s sisters, Uzma, was allowed to meet him, and after the meeting, she told the media that her brother was very angry. He was subjected to “mental torture,” saying they were locking him in a room all day, allowing him out for short periods, but not allowing him to speak to anyone.

Indeed, Imran Khan is reaping what he sowed. His regime treated its political opponents in the same way that he is now being treated. Even during his tenure as Prime Minister, several cases were initiated against Nawaz Sharif’s family, forcing them to remain outside the country. Then, realizing that a ruler can’t live peacefully within Pakistan if he is at odds with the military, he launched a campaign against the very army that had installed him as Prime Minister. Undoubtedly, the military is at the root of all of Pakistan’s problems, but its politicians are no strangers either. If Imran Khan wanted to pursue long-term politics, he should have gradually strengthened constitutional institutions while keeping the military in confidence. There’s no doubt that the public was impressed by his actions.

Had the election not been rigged, he or a representative of his party would be Prime Minister today instead of Shahbaz Sharif, but he was in a hurry, and patience is the most important factor in politics.

Imran must now hope for relief from the courts. In any case, he has already been granted bail in most of the cases. By instigating a ruckus through his sisters and party leaders and workers, he will only create new problems for himself. His sisters should also seek court action to inquire about their brother’s well-being. By directly opposing Munir, they are only increasing Imran’s problems, as Munir is currently the most powerful Pakistani, given more importance by the US, China, and West Asian countries than Shahbaz Sharif.
