पाकिस्तान के पूर्व प्रधानमंत्री इमरान खान से मिलने के लिए अदियाला जेल के बाहर धरने पर बैठी उनकी बहनों और उनकी पार्टी पाकिस्तान तहरीक-ए-इंसाफ के सदस्यों पर सर्द रात में ठंडे पानी की बौछार करने की खबरें छनकर आ रही हैं। सोशल मीडिया प्लेटफॉर्म पर एक पोस्ट में पार्टी ने बयान जारी कर कहा है कि, ‘जेल में बंद पूर्व पीएम के साथ मुलाकात की अनुमति के अदालती आदेश के बावजूद, सरकार केइशारे पर अधिकारियों ने जेल के बाहर इमरान खान की बहनों और शांति से बैठे पार्टी कार्यकर्ताओं को तितर-बितर करने के लिए बर्फीले पानी की बौछारों का इस्तेमाल किया है।’ ज्ञात हो कि इमरान खान के खिलाफ ‘चीफ ऑफ डिफेंस फोर्सेज’ का पद संभालने के बाद से जनरल आसिम मुनीर के जुल्म की इंतिहा हो गई है। मुनीर इमरान खान से जुड़े सभी नामो-हिलरान मिटाने पर तुले हुए हैं, क्योंकि प्रधानमंत्री होने के कारण इमरान के पास पाकिस्तान की बहुत सारी अहम रणनीतिक खुफिया जानकारियां हैं, जो देर-सबेर मुनीर और वर्तमान प्रधानमंत्री शहबाज शरीफ के लिए खतरा बन सकती हैं।

इसीलिए इमरान पर जुल्मो-सितम ढाने में पाकिस्तानी सेना जीजान से जुट गई है। यहां तक कि उनके बुनियादी मानवाधिकारों का उल्लंघन करने पर आमादा है। इमरान खान की बड़ी बहन अलीमा के नेतृत्व में मंगलवार को अदियाला जेल के बाहर धरना दिया जा रहा था। इसकी वजह थी कि अदालतो आदेश के बावजूद उन्हें एक बार फिर इमरान खान से मिलने नहीं दिया गया। प्रदर्शन में बहनों के अलावा पाकिस्तान तहरीक-ए-इंसाफ पार्टी के महासचिव सलमान अकरम राजा और खैबर-पख्तूनख्वा के प्रांतीय अध्यक्ष जुनैद अकबर खान सहित पार्टी के कई वरिष्ठ नेता भी शामिल हुए थे। गौरतलब है कि पिछले हफ्ते इमरान की दूसरी बहन उज्मा खान को जेल में बंद भाई से मिलने की अनुमति दी गई थी। उज्मा ने बाद में कहा था कि उनके भाई शारीरिक रूप से ठीक लग रहे थे, पर उन्हें ‘मानसिक यातना’ का सामना करना पड़ रहा है।

ठंड के मौसम में शांतिपूर्ण धरना दे रहे नागरिकों पर बफीलें पानी की बौछार करना न केवल उनके नागरिक अधिकारों का बेशर्म उल्लंघन है, बल्कि सरकार के अत्याचारों का विरोध करने के लिए जमा हुए लोगों के राजनीतिक अधिकारों पर भी सीधा हमला है। अंतरराष्ट्रीय मानवाधिकार संगठनों और लोकतंत्र के समर्थकों के लिए भी यह एक चुनौती है कि वे पाकिस्तान में लोकतांत्रिक अधिकारों का उपयोग कर रहे निरीह नागरिकों के दमन पर चुप नहीं बैठें और त्वरित कार्रवाई करें।

Reports are emerging that Imran Khan’s sisters and members of his party, the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf, were subjected to cold water cannons on a frigid night while protesting outside Adiala Jail to meet former Prime Minister Imran Khan. In a statement posted on social media platforms, the party said, “Despite a court order allowing them to meet the jailed former Prime Minister, authorities, at the behest of the government, used icy water cannons to disperse Imran Khan’s sisters and party workers sitting peacefully outside the jail.” It is worth noting that General Asim Munir’s repression against Imran Khan has reached its peak since assuming the position of Chief of Defence Forces. Munir is determined to eliminate all traces of Imran Khan, as he, as Prime Minister, possesses significant strategic intelligence information, which could sooner or later pose a threat to Munir and current Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif.

That’s why the Pakistani military has been determined to inflict atrocities on Imran Khan, even violating his basic human rights. A protest was held outside Adiala Jail on Tuesday, led by Imran Khan’s elder sister, Aleema. This was because, despite court orders, she was once again denied access to Imran Khan. In addition to the sisters, several senior party leaders, including Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf General Secretary Salman Akram Raja and Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa Provincial President Junaid Akbar Khan, also participated in the protest. It’s worth noting that last week, Imran’s other sister, Uzma Khan, was allowed to visit her brother in jail. Uzma later said that while her brother appeared physically fine, he was suffering from “mental torture.”

Spraying freezing water on citizens staging a peaceful protest in the freezing weather is not only a brazen violation of their civil rights, but also a direct attack on the political rights of those gathered to protest government atrocities. This also poses a challenge to international human rights organizations and advocates for democracy to not remain silent and take swift action against the repression of innocent citizens exercising their democratic rights in Pakistan.
