English actress Lashana Lynch will replace DeWanda Wise in the new Captain Marvel movie, according to .
Wise, 33, was due to star alongside Brie Larson in the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) movie – which will be the first Marvel movie to star a female superhero as the lead role – but was forced to drop out of the production.
Lynch plays Rosaline Capulet in ABC’s Still Star-Crossed, produced by Shonda Rhimes.
Her other credits include the 2011 film Fast Girls and TV roles on The Bill and Silent Witness.

DeWanda’s decision to leave ‘Captain Marvel’ came after ‘scheduling conflicts’ with her hit Netflix series She’s Gotta Have It, where she stars as Nola Darling.
She confirmed the report on Friday, telling her Instagram fans: ‘It’s true.
I will no longer be in Captain Marvel because the schedule conflicts with season 2 of She’s Gotta Have It.’
‘Last week I felt pretty devastated—this week is leaps and bounds better,’ she added.

‘You see, if you had told me that this would happen any year prior to 2016, I would have doubled over with laughter.
But here we are—at a moment in culture where scheduling conflicts are rapidly replacing lack of options, and I feel absolutely blessed to be here.’
The Netflix series – which is based on Spike Lee’s 1986 movie – was renewed for a second season in January, just after DeWanda joined the cast of the upcoming Marvel flick.
‘Captain Marvel’ was set to be the first major movie role for DeWanda, whose replacement has not yet been cast.

Meanwhile, other stars joining Brie – who will star as Carol Danvers and her crime fighting alter-ego – on the big screen include Jude Law, Ben Mendelsohn, and Samuel L.
Jackson, who will be reprising his role as fan-favourite Nick Fury.
Ben Mendelsohn is known to be starring as the villain, and although his exact role is not yet know, Marvel Studios boss Kevin Feige previously teased that the shape-shifting alien group known as the Skrulls would feature in ‘Captain Marvel’.
The story follows Air Force pilot Carol whose DNA is fused with that of an alien in an accident, giving her super strength, energy projection and flight powers.
While the details of the motion picture are being kept tightly under wraps, Feige announced at the San Diego Comic Con this year that the film will be set in the 90s, meaning this will take place before the events of the ‘Avengers’ movie.
Anna Boden and Ryan Fleck are directing the production, which has been slated for a March 8 2019 release.
