शीर्ष अदालत ने चुनावी मौसम में जनता को मुफ्त उपहार बांटने की परंपरा को गलत बताया, जो उचित ही है। इसके बदले उसने रोजगार देने की बेहतरीन बात कही है। सच भी यही है कि राजनीतिक पार्टियां ऐसे मुफ्त उपहार और योजनाओं की बात कहकर मतदाताओं को अपनी ओर लुभाने के प्रयास करती हैं, ताकि बस सरकार बनाई जा सके। जनता को कभी इसका फायदा मिलता है, तो कभी वह सिर्फ सपने देखकर रह जाती है। ऐसे में, सर्वोच्च न्यायालय ने सही कहा कि सबसे आवश्यक चीज रोजगार है। आदमी हो या औरत, शिक्षित हो या अशिक्षित, सभी काम चाहते हैं। अच्छा हुआ, जो सुप्रीम कोर्ट ने इस मामले में टिप्पणी की। अब जनता को ऐसे मुफ्त लुभावने उपहार देने की घोषणा करने से पहले पार्टियां एक बार विचार जरूर करेंगी। अगर सियासी पार्टियां रोजगार जैसे मुद्दे पर गंभीरता से काम करने के प्रयास करती हैं, तो युवा शक्ति और सशक्त होगी। इससे राष्ट्र-निर्माण में भी सहायता मिलेगी।

चुनाव से पहले मुफ्त सुविधाएं (फ्रीबीज) देने पर सुप्रीम कोर्ट ने पुनः तल्ख टिप्पणी करते हुए अपनी नाराजगी जताई है। उसने साथ-साथ कुछ कड़े सवाल भी पूछे हैं, जैसे- मुफ्त की सुविधाएं यदि यूं ही मिलती रहीं, तो लोग काम क्यों करेंगे? इतना ही नहीं, घाटे में चलने वाले राज्य, जो कर्ज लेकर अपना काम चला रहे हैं, लोगों को पैसे किस तरह बांट रहे हैं? सुप्रीम कोर्ट की नाराजगी समयानुकूल होने के साथ-साथ जायज है, लेकिन दुख की बात है कि इसकी परवाह कौन करता है या कर रहा है? सभी दल चुनाव में वोट पाने के लिए बेढंगी चाल ही चलते हैं। भले ही अर्थव्यवस्था बैठ जाए या विकास की दौड़ में देश पीछे रह जाए, उनको इसकी परवाह नहीं। केंद्र व राज्यों की कमान संभालने के लिए सभी पार्टियां चुनावी मैदान में उतरते ही मुफ्त सुविधाओं की वकालत करने लगती हैं। उनका एक ही मकसद होता है-मुफ्त सुविधाओं की घोषणा करो और वोट लो। कोई भी दल अर्थव्यवस्था को लेकर चिंतित नहीं दिखता। जब थोड़े रुपये बांटकर उनका काम चल जाता है, तो बेरोजगारों को रोजगार देकर हाथी कोई क्यों बांधे ? जब तक मुफ्त की इन सुविधाओं पर रोक के लिए सख्त कानून नहीं बनेगा, तब तक इन दलों पर कोई फर्क नहीं पड़ने वाला है। यह सही है कि संसद व विधानसभाओं में ही कानून बनते हैं और ऐसे कानून बनाकर ये चतुर सुजान अपने पैरों पर कुल्हाड़ी क्यों मारेंगे, लेकिन जनता का दबाव काम कर सकता है। इसलिए, सौगात देकर वोट खरीदने की राजनीति अब बंद होनी चाहिए।

The Supreme Court condemned the practice of distributing freebies to the public during election season, which is right. Instead, it advocated for the creation of employment. The truth is that political parties attempt to woo voters by promising freebies and schemes simply to form a government. Sometimes the public benefits, and sometimes they are left dreaming. In such a situation, the Supreme Court rightly stated that employment is the most essential thing. Men and women, educated or uneducated, everyone wants work. It is good that the Supreme Court commented on this issue. Now, parties will definitely think twice before announcing such tempting freebies to the public. If political parties seriously address issues like employment, the youth will be empowered. This will also help in nation-building.

The Supreme Court has once again expressed its displeasure with its harsh comments on the distribution of freebies before elections. It also raises some tough questions, such as: “If freebies continue to be provided, why will people work?” Furthermore, how are deficit-running states, which rely on debt to fund their operations, distributing money to the people? The Supreme Court’s outrage is both timely and justified, but sadly, who cares? All parties resort to clumsy tactics to garner votes in elections. Even if the economy stagnates or the country lags behind in the race for development, they remain unconcerned. All parties, seeking central and state power, begin advocating freebies as soon as they enter the electoral fray. Their sole objective is to announce freebies and garner votes. No party seems concerned about the economy. When distributing a small amount of money can suffice, why bother providing employment to the unemployed? Unless strict laws are enacted to curb these freebies, these parties will remain unaffected. It’s true that laws are made in Parliament and state legislatures, and why would these clever people shoot themselves in the foot by enacting such laws? However, public pressure can work. Therefore, the politics of buying votes by offering gifts must now end.
