आज की दुनिया एक गहरे नैतिक और राजनीतिक संकट के दौर से गुजर रही है, जहां अंतरराष्ट्रीय व्यवस्था धीरे-धीरे *कमजोर होती जा रही है और नियम आधारित विश्व व्यवस्था केवल कागजों और भाषणों तक सिमटकर रह गई है। जिन सिद्धांतों पर यह व्यवस्था खड़ी थी, आज वही सिद्धांत सबसे अधिक उपेक्षित नजर आते हैं। अंतरराष्ट्रीय कानून सभी देशों पर समान रूप से लागू नहीं होते, बल्कि उनकी व्याख्या ताकत और हितों के तराजू पर की जाती है। जब नियम शक्तिशाली देशों के हितों के अनुकूल होते हैं, तब उन्हें ‘वैश्विक व्यवस्था’ कहा जाता है, और जब वही नियम उनके रास्ते में बाधा बनते हैं, तब उन्हें नजरंदाज कर दिया जाता है या तोड़-मरोड़कर पेश किया जाता है। संयुक्त राष्ट्र से उम्मीद थी कि वेनेजुएला मसले पर वह सख्त रुख अपनाएगा, लेकिन वह मूक ही बना है।

हालिया उदाहरण बताते हैं कि किस तरह आर्थिक प्रतिबंध, राजनीतिक दबाव और बाहरी हस्तक्षेप को लोकतंत्र और मानवाधिकारों की आड़ में हथियार बना लिया गया है। किसी देश की सरकार की वैधता पर सवाल उठाना, समानांतर सत्ता को मान्यता देना, संसाधनों पर नियंत्रण की इच्छा और जनता को मजबूर कर देने वाले प्रतिबंध, ये सब उस व्यवस्था का चेहरा हैं, जो खुद को नियम आधारित कहती है। वेनेजुएला के संदर्भ में सत्ता-परिवर्तन की खुली बातें, तेल और प्राकृतिक संसाधनों पर पकड़ की लालसा और धमकी भरी भाषा यह बताती है कि आज अंतरराष्ट्रीय राजनीति में नैतिकता नहीं, बल्कि ताकत निर्णायक बनती जा रही है। यही प्रवृत्ति दुनिया के अन्य हिस्सों में भी दिखती है, जहां ग्रीनलैंड, क्यूबा, कोलंबिया या मेक्सिको जैसे देशों के बारे में अल्टीमेटम की भाषा का इस्तेमाल किया जाता है, मानो वे संप्रभु राष्ट्र नहीं हों।

अगर यही रुख जारी रहा, तो छोटे और कमजोर देशों के लिए अपनी स्वतंत्रता और पहचान बचा पाना बेहद कठिन हो जाएगा। यह स्थिति केवल किसी एक देश या क्षेत्र के लिए नहीं, बल्कि पूरी मानवता के लिए खतरे की घंटी है, क्योंकि जब नियम टूटते हैं और शक्ति ही न्याय बन जाती है, तब दुनिया अराजकता, युद्ध व हिंसा के अंधेरे में डूब जाती है। आज जरूरत इस बात की है कि अंतरराष्ट्रीय व्यवस्था को फिर से नैतिक आधार दिया जाए, कानून को ताकत से ऊपर रखा जाए और यह स्वीकार किया जाए कि सच्ची वैश्विक शांति किसी एक देश के वर्चस्व से नहीं, बल्कि समानता, सम्मान और न्याय से ही संभव है। अन्यथा, इतिहास खुद को एक बार फिर विनाशकारी रूप में दोहराएगा।

Today’s world is going through a profound moral and political crisis, where the international order is gradually weakening, and the rules-based world order exists only on paper and in speeches. The very principles upon which this order was built are now the most neglected. International law is not applied equally to all countries; instead, its interpretation is based on the balance of power and interests. When the rules suit the interests of powerful nations, they are called the “global order,” but when those same rules become an obstacle, they are ignored or distorted. The United Nations was expected to take a firm stance on the Venezuela issue, but it has remained silent.

Recent examples demonstrate how economic sanctions, political pressure, and external intervention have been weaponized under the guise of democracy and human rights. Questioning the legitimacy of a country’s government, recognizing parallel power structures, the desire to control resources, and imposing coercive sanctions—all of these are facets of a system that claims to be rules-based. In the context of Venezuela, the open talk of regime change, the lust for control over oil and natural resources, and the threatening language reveal that in international politics today, power, not morality, is becoming the decisive factor. This trend is also visible in other parts of the world, where ultimatum-like language is used regarding countries like Greenland, Cuba, Colombia, or Mexico, as if they were not sovereign nations.

If this trend continues, it will become extremely difficult for smaller and weaker countries to preserve their independence and identity. This situation is not just a threat to one country or region, but a wake-up call for all of humanity, because when rules are broken and power becomes the only arbiter of justice, the world descends into the darkness of chaos, war, and violence. Today, there is a need to restore a moral foundation to the international order, to place law above brute force, and to recognize that true global peace is possible not through the dominance of any one nation, but through equality, respect, and justice. Otherwise, history will repeat itself once again in a destructive manner.
