होली भारतीय लोकजीवन का वह उत्सव है, जो रंगों को चंचलता के साथ मनुष्य के भीतर छिपे भेदभाव, भय और संकोच को धो डालने का दावा करता है। हालांकि, इसका एक चेहरा उल्लास का है, तो दूसरा विडंबनाओं से भरा हुआ। इस मौके पर जहां एक ओर लोग एक-दूसरे के गले मिलते हैं, तो वहीं दूसरी ओर अनेक ऐसे. हाथ भी होते हैं, जिनको इस उत्सव से बाहर रखा जाता है। समाज के हाशिये पर खड़े लोग गरीब, श्रमिक, सफाईकर्मी अक्सर होली के रंगों से नहीं, बल्कि उसकी राख से जुड़े दिखाई देते हैं। उनके जीवन से असमानता का मैल कोई नहीं घोता। क्या यह समानता का पर्व तब भी समान रहता है, जब समानता केवल कुछ घंटों की मेहमान हो ?

होली के मौके पर सामाजिक व्यवहार कई बार अपनी मूल भावना से भटक जाता है। ‘बुरा न मानो, होली है’ जैसे वाक्य

मजाक में कहे जाते हैं, लेकिन इनके भीतर छिपी हिंसा और असंवेदनशीलता को अनदेखा नहीं किया जा सकता। जब किसी की असहमति के मौलिक अधिकार को रंगों के बहाने कुचल दिया जाता है; जब स्त्रियों की मर्यादा को उत्सव के नाम पर रौंद दिया जाता है, तब होली का सच्चा रंग धुंधला पड़ने लगता है। अगर कोई उत्सव यदि मानवीय संवेदनाओं को कुचलने का बहाना बन जाए, तो वह केवल आडंबर बनकर रह जाता है। स्त्री दृष्टि से देखें, तो होली दोहरी चुनौती लेकर आती है।

यह उनके लिए असुरक्षा और भय भी साथ लाती है। रंग लगाने की आड़ में अक्सर सीमाएं लांघ ली जाती हैं और विरोध करने पर उत्सव बिगाड़ने का आरोप लग जाता है। क्या समानता का स्वप्न तब तक अधूरा नहीं रहेगा, जब तक सम्मान और सहमति उसके केंद्र में न हों? धार्मिक और सांस्कृतिक विविधता के स्तर पर भी होली हमें आईना दिखाती है। भारत जैसे बहुरंगी समाज में यह पर्व साझा संस्कृति का प्रतीक हो सकता है, पर कई बार यह भी देखा जाता है कि धार्मिक पहचानें खिंच जाती हैं। कुछ लोग उत्सव में शामिल होते हैं, कुछ दूरी बनाए रखते हैं और कुछ को दूरी पर ही रखा जाता है। रंगों का पर्व यदि सबको रंगने के बजाय कुछ को बाहर कर दे, तो वह अपने ही उद्देश्य से दूर चला जाता है।

आर्थिक विषमता होली की सबसे गहरी दरारों में से एक है। जिनके पास संसाधन की भरमार है, उनके लिए तो यह त्योहार आनंद का समुद्र है, लेकिन जिनके पास रोजी-रोटी का संकट है, उनके लिए यह दिन भी संघर्ष का हिस्सा बन जाता है। कहने का अर्थ है कि यह त्योहार हमें अवसर देता है, रुककर सोचने का, अपने भीतर झांकने का।

Social behavior on Holi often deviates from its original spirit. Phrases like “Don’t mind, it’s Holi!”

are said jokingly, but the violence and insensitivity hidden within them cannot be ignored. When someone’s fundamental right to dissent is crushed under the guise of colors; When women’s dignity is trampled under the guise of celebration, the true colors of Holi fade. If a festival becomes an excuse to suppress human sensibilities, it becomes merely a spectacle. From a woman’s perspective, Holi poses a double challenge.

It also brings insecurity and fear for them. Limits are often crossed under the guise of applying colors, and protesting is accused of spoiling the celebration. Will the dream of equality remain unfulfilled unless respect and consent are at its core? Holi also holds a mirror to religious and cultural diversity. In a multi-colored society like India, this festival can symbolize a shared culture, but it is often seen that religious identities are drawn into the mix. Some people join in the celebration, some maintain a distance, and others are kept at a distance. If the festival of colors excludes some instead of coloring everyone, it detracts from its very purpose.

Economic inequality is one of Holi’s deepest fault lines. For those with abundant resources, this festival is a sea of ​​joy, but for those struggling to make ends meet, even this day becomes a struggle. This means that this festival gives us an opportunity to pause, to reflect, to introspect.
