बच्चों के कल्याण के लिए पंडित जवाहरलाल नेहरू कितने प्रतिबद्ध थे, उसी का सम्मान करने के लिए दिन है बाल दिवस। इसी दिन पंडित नेहरू का जन्म हुआ था। यह दिन हमें बच्चों की बेहतरी की याद दिलाता है। यह बताता है कि उनको शिक्षा, पालन-पोषण और सुरक्षित वातावरण के लिए और क्या किया जाना चाहिए। बच्चे राष्ट्र की संपत्ति होते हैं और अपनी संपत्ति को हर कोई संभालकर रखना चाहता है। यहां तक कि उसे और समृद्ध बनाना चाहता है। हम भी आजाद नागरिक के तौर पर अपने भविष्य को, यानी बच्चों को समृद्ध बनाना चाहते हैं। जाहिर है, यह समृद्धि उसे ज्ञान से, पोषण से और सुरक्षित वातावरण से मिल सकती है। यही कारण है कि यह दिन कमियां गिनाने का नहीं, बल्कि समाज को बेहतर बनाने के संकल्प का होना चाहिए। वास्तव में, भारत में बच्चों की बेहतरी के लिए कई काम हुए हैं। उनके लिए शिक्षा की अच्छी व्यवस्था की गई है, जिस कारण स्कूल छोड़ने की दर कम हुई है। विशेष तौर पर माध्यमिक स्तर तक शत-प्रतिशत नामांकन की ओर हम बढ़ चुके हैं और यहां से स्कूल छोड़ने की दरें भी काफी कम हो गई हैं। लड़कियों के लिए लैंगिक समानता में स्थिति अच्छी हुई है और लड़कियों के नामांकन व भागीदारी में वृद्धि हुई है। इतना ही नहीं, टीकाकरण की दिशा में भी देश ने अच्छा काम किया है। टीकाकरण कवरेज में सुधार हुआ है, हालांकि इसमें अब भी काम करने की जरूरत है, जिस पर हमें ध्यान देना होगा। देश की आर्थिक तरक्की से भी बच्चों का जीवन सुधरा है। देखा जाए, तो आर्थिक विकास ने बच्चों के लिए स्वास्थ्य, शिक्षा, पोषण आदि की सुविधा उपलब्ध कराई है। इसी का परिणाम है कि बाल श्रम अब काफी कम हो चुका है और हिंसा जैसी समस्याओं से निपटने के लिए कई प्रभावशाली प्रयास किए गए हैं।
पंडित नेहरू का मानना था कि देश की सफलता और समृद्धि बच्चों पर निर्भर है, जो आज भी प्रासंगिक है। बच्चों के विकास के बिना राष्ट्र का विकास नहीं हो सकता। अच्छी बात है कि तमाम सरकारें इस बात से सहमत हैं और बच्चों की बेहतरी के लिए अनवरत काम कर रही हैं। यह प्रवृत्ति आगे भी बनी रहेगी, और ऐसा तभी होगा, जब हम सरकारों के साथ मिलकर काम करेंगे, न कि उनकी आलोचना में रम जाएंगे। अगर हम चाहते हैं कि यह देश बच्चों के लिए और बेहतर वने, तो हमें सभी तबकों के बच्चों को समान रूप से आगे बढ़ाना होगा, खासतौर से वंचित और कमजोर तबके के बच्चों पर ध्यान देना होगा ।

Pandit Nehru believed that a nation’s success and prosperity depend on its children, a belief that remains relevant today. Without the development of children, a nation cannot develop. It is heartening that many governments agree with this and are working tirelessly for the betterment of children. This trend will continue, and only if we work together with governments, rather than simply criticizing them. If we want this country to become a better place for children, we must promote children from all walks of life equally, with special attention to the disadvantaged and vulnerable.

संतोष आनंद का जन्म 5 मार्च 1939 को बुलंदशहर के सिकंदराबाद में हुआ था जो उत्तर प्रदेश में स्थित है। उन्होंने अलीगढ़ मुस्लिम यूनिवर्सिटी से लाइब्रेरी साइंस की पढ़ाई की। पढ़ाई पूरी करने के बाद संतोष दिल्ली में बतौर लाइब्रेरियन काम करने लगे। किताबें पढ़ते पढ़ाते धीरे-धीरे उन्हें कविताओं का शौक हो गया और वे दिल्ली में होने वाले कवि सम्मेलनों में हिस्सा भी लेने लगे। वे कविताओं के साथ-साथ गीत और ग़ज़ल भी लिखा करते। उनके गीतों पर जब जाने माने अभिनेता निर्माता व निर्देशक मनोज कुमार जी की नज़र पड़ी तो उन्होंने संतोष जी को अपनी फिल्म के लिये गीत गीत लिखने को कहा। संतोष आनंद को पहली बार फिल्म के लिए गाने लिखने का ऑफर मिला फिल्म पूरब और पश्चिम के लिए जो वर्ष 1970 में प्रदर्शित हुई थी। इस फिल्म का गीत ‘पुरवा सुहानी आई रे’ बेहद पॉपुलर हुआ। इस गाने से मनोज कुमार इतने प्रभावित हुए कि अपनी आगामी सभी फिल्मों में संतोष जी से ही गीत लिखवाने का मन बना लिया।वर्ष 1972 में प्रदर्शित फिल्म शोर के लिए संतोष जी का लिखा और मुकेश व लता मंगेशकर का गाया गीत ‘एक प्यार का नगमा है’ गीत बहुत पॉप्युलर हुआ था जो आज भी हर किसी का पसंदीदा गीत है । इस गीत की कामयाबी के बाद संतोष जी के आगे फिल्मों की लाइन लग गयी।
इसके बाद संतोष आनंद ने रोटी कपडा और मकान, क्रांति, प्यासा सावन, प्रेम रोग, लव 86, बड़े घर की बेटी, संतोष और सूर्या जैसी ढेरों बड़ी फिल्मों में एक से बढ़कर एक सुपरहिट गीत लिखे। 70 और 80 के दशकों में ढेरों कामयाब गीत लिखने के बाद उनका यह सफर 90 के दशक में भी ज़ारी रहा। दो मतवाले, नागमणि, रणभूमि, जूनून, संगीत, तहलका, तिरंगा, संगम हो के रहेगा और प्रेम अगन जैसी ढेरों फिल्मों के गीतों में अपनी कलम का जादू संतोष दिखाते रहे। संतोष आनंद ने कुल 26 फिल्मों में 109 गाने लिखे हैं. जिन्हें मुकेश, लता मंगेशकर, महेंद्र कपूर जैसे लेजेंडरी सिंगर्स से लेकर मोहम्मद अजीज, कुमार शानू और कविता कृष्णमूर्ति जैसे ढेरों शानदार गायक गायिकाओं ने आवाज दी हैं।
फिल्म रोटी कपड़ा और मकान के लिए ‘और नहीं बस और नहीं’ और ‘मैं ना भूलूंगा’ जैसे सफल गीतों को लिख उन्होंने वर्ष 1974 में अपना पहला बेस्ट लिरिसिस्ट का फिल्मफेयर अवॉर्ड हासिल किया।
वर्ष 1981 में एक तरफ संतोष जी ने उस वर्ष की सबसे सफल फिल्म क्रांति के गीत लिखे तो साथ ही उसी वर्ष उन्होंने फिल्म प्यासा सावन के लिए भी अमर गीत “तेरा साथ हैं तो मुझे क्या कमी है” और “मेघा रे मेघा मत परदेस जा रे” भी लिखा। इसके बाद वर्ष 1983 में प्रदर्शित फिल्म प्रेम रोग के गीत ‘मुहब्बत है क्या चीज’ के लिए एक फिर फिर उन्हें फिल्म फेयर अवार्ड से सम्मानित किया गया। वर्ष 2016 में संतोष आनंद जी को यश भारती के सम्मान से भी नवाज़ा गया।

युवावस्था में ही एक दुर्घटना में एक टांग से विकलांग हो चुके संतोष आनंद जी की शादी के 10 वर्षों के बाद बड़ी मन्नतों से पुत्र प्राप्त हुआ जिसका नाम उन्होंने संकल्प आनंद रखा। वे बताते हैंं कि ठीक उसी दिन उन्हें फिल्म फेयर अवार्ड के लिये भी चुना गया।
संकल्प आनंद दिल्ली के लोकनायक जयप्रकाश नारायण नेशनल इंस्टीट्यूट ऑफ क्रिमिनोलॉजी एंड फॉरेंसिक साइंस में समाजशास्त्र के लेक्चरर थे। करोड़ों के फंड की गड़बड़ी में शामिल होने के लिये उनके अधिकारियों को तरफ से उन पर बहुत दबाव डाला गया नतीज़ा वे मानसिक रूप से परेशान रहने लगे। और एक दिन हालात और बदनामी से तंग आकर संकल्प ने पत्नी नंदिनी और बेटी रिद्धिमा आनंद के साथ अपनी जिंदगी खत्म करने का फैसला कर लिया। ये सारी बातें संकल्प ने बाकायदा अपने स्टेटमेंट में लिखा था। 15 अक्टूबर 2014 को वे सपरिवार दिल्ली से मथुरा पहुंचे और कोसीकलां कस्बे के पास रेलवे ट्रैक पर पहुंच कर पत्नी और बेेटी सहित ट्रेन के सामने कूदकर जान दे दी। हाालांकि इस हादसे में उनकी बेटी की किसी तरह बचा लिया गया।
