Our country’s success depends on children.

हमारे देश की सफलता बच्चों पर निर्भर

बच्चों के कल्याण के लिए पंडित जवाहरलाल नेहरू कितने प्रतिबद्ध थे, उसी का सम्मान करने के लिए दिन है बाल दिवस। इसी दिन पंडित नेहरू का जन्म हुआ था। यह दिन हमें बच्चों की बेहतरी की याद दिलाता है। यह बताता है कि उनको शिक्षा, पालन-पोषण और सुरक्षित वातावरण के लिए और क्या किया जाना चाहिए। बच्चे राष्ट्र की संपत्ति होते हैं और अपनी संपत्ति को हर कोई संभालकर रखना चाहता है। यहां तक कि उसे और समृद्ध बनाना चाहता है। हम भी आजाद नागरिक के तौर पर अपने भविष्य को, यानी बच्चों को समृद्ध बनाना चाहते हैं। जाहिर है, यह समृद्धि उसे ज्ञान से, पोषण से और सुरक्षित वातावरण से मिल सकती है। यही कारण है कि यह दिन कमियां गिनाने का नहीं, बल्कि समाज को बेहतर बनाने के संकल्प का होना चाहिए। वास्तव में, भारत में बच्चों की बेहतरी के लिए कई काम हुए हैं। उनके लिए शिक्षा की अच्छी व्यवस्था की गई है, जिस कारण स्कूल छोड़ने की दर कम हुई है। विशेष तौर पर माध्यमिक स्तर तक शत-प्रतिशत नामांकन की ओर हम बढ़ चुके हैं और यहां से स्कूल छोड़ने की दरें भी काफी कम हो गई हैं। लड़कियों के लिए लैंगिक समानता में स्थिति अच्छी हुई है और लड़‌कियों के नामांकन व भागीदारी में वृद्धि हुई है। इतना ही नहीं, टीकाकरण की दिशा में भी देश ने अच्छा काम किया है। टीकाकरण कवरेज में सुधार हुआ है, हालांकि इसमें अब भी काम करने की जरूरत है, जिस पर हमें ध्यान देना होगा। देश की आर्थिक तरक्की से भी बच्चों का जीवन सुधरा है। देखा जाए, तो आर्थिक विकास ने बच्चों के लिए स्वास्थ्य, शिक्षा, पोषण आदि की सुविधा उपलब्ध कराई है। इसी का परिणाम है कि बाल श्रम अब काफी कम हो चुका है और हिंसा जैसी समस्याओं से निपटने के लिए कई प्रभावशाली प्रयास किए गए हैं।

पंडित नेहरू का मानना था कि देश की सफलता और समृद्धि बच्चों पर निर्भर है, जो आज भी प्रासंगिक है। बच्चों के विकास के बिना राष्ट्र का विकास नहीं हो सकता। अच्छी बात है कि तमाम सरकारें इस बात से सहमत हैं और बच्चों की बेहतरी के लिए अनवरत काम कर रही हैं। यह प्रवृत्ति आगे भी बनी रहेगी, और ऐसा तभी होगा, जब हम सरकारों के साथ मिलकर काम करेंगे, न कि उनकी आलोचना में रम जाएंगे। अगर हम चाहते हैं कि यह देश बच्चों के लिए और बेहतर वने, तो हमें सभी तबकों के बच्चों को समान रूप से आगे बढ़ाना होगा, खासतौर से वंचित और कमजोर तबके के बच्चों पर ध्यान देना होगा ।

It highlights what more needs to be done to ensure their education, upbringing, and a safe environment. Children are a national asset, and everyone wants to preserve their wealth and even enrich it. As free citizens, we too want to enrich our future, that is, our children. This prosperity can be achieved through knowledge, nutrition, and a safe environment. That is why this day should not be a time for pointing out shortcomings, but rather a time for resolving to improve society. Indeed, many strides have been made for the betterment of children in India. Improved education has been provided for them, leading to a reduction in school dropout rates. We have moved towards 100% enrolment at the secondary level, and dropout rates have also significantly reduced. Gender equality for girls has improved, with an increase in girls’ enrollment and participation. Furthermore, the country has also made good progress in vaccination coverage. Vaccination coverage has improved, although work remains to be done, which we must address. The country’s economic progress has also improved the lives of children. Economic development has provided access to health, education, and nutrition for children. As a result, child labor has significantly decreased, and many effective efforts have been made to address problems like violence.

Pandit Nehru believed that a nation’s success and prosperity depend on its children, a belief that remains relevant today. Without the development of children, a nation cannot develop. It is heartening that many governments agree with this and are working tirelessly for the betterment of children. This trend will continue, and only if we work together with governments, rather than simply criticizing them. If we want this country to become a better place for children, we must promote children from all walks of life equally, with special attention to the disadvantaged and vulnerable.
