वाशिंगटन, एजेंसी। विलुप्त होने की कगार पर पहुंचे पौधे को बचाने के लिए आर्टिफिशियल इंटेलीजेंस (एआई) की मदद ली जा रही है। साउथेंपटन यूनिवर्सिटी के शोधकर्ताओं ने इस पौधे के लिए साथी की तलाश शुरू की है।
यह पौधा नर प्रजाति का है और इसके लिए मादा प्रजाति के पौधे की तलाश है ताकि परागण के जरिए इनकी संख्या बढ़ाई जा सके। धरती पर बीज धारण करने वाले सबसे पुराने पौधों की प्रजाति साइकैड्स का सदस्य ई वुडी एआई पौधा डायनोसॉर युग से भी पहले का है।
1895 में साइकैड प्रजाति का – एकमात्र पुरुष प्रजाति का पौधा – एनसेफालारतोस वुडी (ई वुडी) सबसे पहले दक्षिण अफ्रीका के गोय वन में मिला था। इसके लिए मादा साथी की तलाश है। विलुप्तप्राय प्रजाति के नमूने को लंदन के कीव गार्डन समेत विभिन्न बोटैनिकल गार्डन में भेजा गया। अब साउथेंपटन यूनिवर्सिटी में डॉ लॉरा सिनटी के नेतृत्व में इसपर काम हो रहा है।
