The Name ‘Aryabhata’ Resounded in Space
अंतरिक्ष में गूंजा था ‘आर्यभट्ट’ का नाम
आज से 51 साल पहले, 19 अप्रैल 1975 को भारत ने अंतरिक्ष की दुनिया में अपना पहला कदम रखा था। भारत का पहला स्वदेशी उपग्रह’ आर्यभट्ट’ सोवियत संघ की मदद से अंतरिक्ष में भेजा गया। इस मिशन ने साबित किया कि भारत के पास विज्ञान में आसमान छूने की काबिलियत है।
यह भारत द्वारा निर्मित पहला मानवरहित पृथ्वी उपग्रह था, जिसे अंतरिक्ष में भेजा गया था।
इसे सोवियत संघ (अब रूस) के ‘कपुस्टिन यार’ लॉन्च कॉम्प्लेक्स से भेजा गया था।
इसका नाम प्रसिद्ध भारतीय गणितज्ञ और खगोलशास्त्री आर्यभट्ट के नाम पर रखा गया।
इसका नाम तत्कालीन प्रधानमंत्री इंदिरा गांधी ने चुना था, इसका वजन लगभग 360 किग्रा था।
इसे पूरी तरह से इसरो (भारतीय अंतरिक्ष अनुसंधान संगठन) के वैज्ञानिकों ने तैयार किया था।
इसका मुख्य लक्ष्य एक्स-रे खगोल विज्ञान, सौर भौतिकी का अध्ययन करना था।
उपग्रह की सतह पर सोलर पैनल लगाए गए थे, ताकि उसे सूरज से ऊर्जा मिल सके।
इस पूरे प्रोजेक्ट की अनुमानित लागत उस समय लगभग पांच करोड़ रुपये आई थी।
इस सफल प्रक्षेपण के साथ ही भारत अंतरिक्ष में उपग्रह भेजने वाला 11वां देश बना था।
अंतरिक्ष में जाने के पांच दिन बाद ही इसके बिजली सिस्टम में खराबी आ गई थी।
प्रयोग रुकने के बावजूद, उपग्रह से डाटा और सिग्नल अगले कई वर्षों तक मिलते रहे।
51 years ago today—on April 19, 1975—India took its first step into the realm of space. India’s first indigenous satellite, ‘Aryabhata,’ was launched into space with the assistance of the Soviet Union. This mission demonstrated that India possesses the capability to reach for the skies in the field of science.
It was the first unmanned Earth satellite built by India to be launched into space.
It was launched from the ‘Kapustin Yar’ launch complex in the Soviet Union (now Russia).
It was named after the renowned Indian mathematician and astronomer, Aryabhata.
Its name was chosen by the then Prime Minister, Indira Gandhi; the satellite weighed approximately 360 kg.
It was entirely designed and built by scientists at ISRO (Indian Space Research Organisation).
Its primary objective was to conduct studies in X-ray astronomy and solar physics.
Solar panels were affixed to the satellite’s surface to enable it to derive energy from the Sun.
The estimated cost of this entire project at the time was approximately five crore rupees.
With this successful launch, India became the 11th nation to send a satellite into space.
Just five days after reaching space, the satellite’s power system developed a malfunction.
Despite the cessation of experiments, data and signals continued to be received from the satellite for several subsequent years.
