भारत के डिपार्टमेंट ऑफ टेलीकम्युनिकेशंस ने एक नया नियम लागू किया है, जिसके तहत व्हाट्सएप, टेलीग्राम, सिग्नल और स्नैपचैट जैसे कम्युनिकेशन ऐप को 90 दिनों के अंदर सिम बाइंडिंग लागू करनी होगी। इन ऐप्स को केवल तभी काम करना चाहिए जब फोन में वह सिम कार्ड मौजूद हो जिसका इस्तेमाल करके अकाउंट को वेरिफाई किया गया है। वर्तमान में, यूजर एक बार वेरिफाई करने के बाद सिम हटाकर भी वाईफाई पर ऐप का इस्तेमाल कर सकते हैं।
